I'd suggest signing up for a free subdomain somewhere, one that forwards the URL somewhere else, if that's needed (or they might have free/paid hosting with that, not sure what you are looking for).

I think the thing is that people aren't really going to be all that receptive to just giving you a domain that they've purchased.
