Hello:

I'm thinking of getting dual xeon server at sm with rhe 3.0. After the huge problems during the month of february with lots of freezes and problems, I'd like to know if anyone is using this combination right now. Are the servers still freezing every couple of days?

Thanks ;)

It seems that RHE does not like MaxRequestsPerChild = 0 - it started accumulating memory load and the Dual Xeon, of course, crashed. Changed it to 500, so the memory load now is no more than 30%. When on Celeron, I had to keep MRPC on 50.

No Dual Xeon's + RHE 3.0 are stable now. We run several of those servers and have had no problems with them. In fact, they're getting really good uptime at the moment.

Would appreciate your Apache settings. Or you have left them as they were by default?

We mainly had problemas because of iowait. There was a thread on wht with about 400 posts regarding this issue.

We have done hours of testing with these servers. It can be pretty much resolved with a 2.6.7 kernel. Might be something worth looking into. Also do you have Hyperthreading enabled? HT will both increase IOWAIT and slow down the server with a 2.4 edition kernel. 2.6 redid the smp part.

Yes, it is in your httpd.conf

Although this could be also a MySQL issue, look for examples of MySQL optimization in the Technical forum.

Hopefully, it will be soon supported by the TP/SM techs.
