A number of the dedicated hosting providers mention they will supply x number of IP's - based on utilization and/or in accordance to RFC 2050. Or something similar at least.

Could someone (maybe one of the vendors here) explain in simple terms what this means?

I had a quick glance at RFC 2050 ( ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2050.txt ). But I don't think they are designed for 'normal' people to understand. ;)

Thanks for the reply. :)

The first link helped a little because it stated "ARIN will no longer accept IP-based hosting as justification for an allocation", which means a client could not say they wanted an IP for each 'virtual server' they were to house on the machine.

But the second link seems to be "Suspended" and does not exist anymore.
