Yeah I'd stick with the smaller stuff like bumper stickers or mousepads.

Unless you have a hundred bucks to play with - you could get better pricing/customization from places like http://iprint.com

Cafepress is just too exspensive. Base price for a shirt *what you'd pay* is about 15 bucks - then you have to markup that price to make a profit. That's horrible in my book. Considering $15 is pretty standard retail price at many dept. stores....

the café press mark up is pretty substantial and not really worth it in the end...

it would be more cost effective to to buy these things at wholesale and sell them from your site... you can even give them away to you loyal clients as gifts...

You should try going to www.officedepot.com and getting custom pens! Go to the medical offices and pass them out. Works for me! :)

i recommend not selling anything on cafepress - only stuff that people are willing to pay that much for is pop culture type stuff - like http://www.cafeshops.com/wilwheaton/35584

Unless your forum readers are raving about your froum and demanding merchandise - then just forget it and throw up some adwords...

Check around and you'll see that there are tons of places to get specialty items for giveaways, etc that are low cost. The pens are a good idea, especially if you give away several hundred a day :)

I take it buba69 that you are another reader of wilwheaton.net (http://www.wilwheaton.net)? It's entertaining sometimes to see what is on the mind of someone who's been around the hollywood block so to speak.

ePromos.com is a great site to check out if you're looking for branded merchandise.
