We have had a Dedicated Server with Server Matrix/The Planet for a number of months and have been VERY pleased with their level of tech support and service in general.

For one issue (there have been only a few), a support agent kept working on a problem after-hours, from home.

I highly recommend these folks for anyone looking for DS Host.

it is probably because of the religious theme of your site -- others are probably more willing to help out because of it. I wish I could say the same about my experience with support.

I have had this kind of experience with dedicatednow, though. I wish their network at OCT-NAC was better, I would still be with them. I bet the new DC will be pretty killer though.

I have yet to hear consistently positive support experiences regarding TP/Servermatrix.

Sporadically exceptional and sporadically horrid service is generally indicatative of poor quality control. It's basically left in the hands of the random technician who your request for service lands on.

There are a couple providers which go above and beyond this which you could find with some simple searching, particularly the more managed of providers (but ironically not at all managed.com who IMO the word managed could sue for slander).
