Hello.

I'm wondering if any users (I'm 99% sure at least one person does looking at the member count ;)) here use Macromedia Studios MX 2004.

What would you say is the actual "useful" options that MX 2004 has, but MX doesn't have.

Thank you

I went from dw 3 to mx 2k4, a huge jump, yes. Ive played with the mx demo and apart from a few asthetics, it doesnt warrent an upgrade.

Dreamweaver I didn't notice a whole lot, but I don't use the prebuilt codes, etc.. much.

As I am working more and more with Flash, I found there are some really nice new features. Nothing that you couldn't get around using MX, but still nice to have. Mostly in the components. They got better :P ... But really MX vs. MX 2004 is not a huge innovative jump.
I use Adobe for graphics, so not sure about Freehand or that other one that MM makes.

I like the new autoshapes in fw2k4 a few more than in mx

I think dreamweaver has a few more CSS templates in MX 04 that were not in MX. Fireworks does have a few autoshapes, but I haven't found them to be useful at all.

I use MX2004, but honestly it wouldn't bother me whcih I used. I hand code and preview with the design tab :)

i tried out mx 2004. i liked everything about it except the actionscript changes. i had a hard enough time learning what i do know and now its really hard to work with.

Fw2004 seems to have a few bugs like Dream2004 as well, like on Fireworks2004 if i type some text in a different font it doesnt make it the right size and chops half of the top of the text off!

So i suggest you should stick with MX i have no problems with it and works how i want it!

I use DW MX 2004 and I would say it is okay but there are some bugs. It is way better than what I had before though (Frontpage 2003)

I still use Dreamweaver 4. Is it worth upgrading to MX2004?

I can't tell you about the authoring experience, but the code Dreamweaver puts out gets increasingly more tolerable with each release. DW3 was ok, considering the state of standards and lack of browser buy-in to them at the time. DW4 was abyssmal. MX/MX2004 is an improvement...not great, but an improvement. But it's like asking which is better, breaking your arm or stubbing your toe? Stubbing your toe hurts much less, but it's still painful :)

Yeah its worth it to upgrade. I used DW 4 for a few weeks and then got MX 2004 and it was TOTALLY worth the upgrade.......IMO -Confused

I've only noticed small changes between MX and MX 2004, like the ftp support is better only if you use Pure-FTPD (usually). It sucks with ProFTPd. Very worth the upgrade :)

The only problem with MX 2004 that I noticed was that it doesn't work on Linux (Wine)

I stick with MX because of all the bugs in FW, it is just not compatible!
