We have been having alot of spammers sign up with us and use a bulk mailing script to send spam. We get an email from someone forwarding the spam and we get right to work finding the person. Well when we located the bulk email script we remove the customer right away. But is there anyway of disabling our servers to not send outside but only to domains on the server. I've seen servers have this enebled. Is this possible? Or is there any other technique to filter out un wanted spam from being sent off your server? I'm sure alot of people would love to get some tips on getting rid of spam from their servers. Thanks for your help!

Well that would be unfair to your other clients.

When I had my sites over at a shared server they had a unique set-up. They required us to hit the receive button(in explorer) before we could send out any mail. It was a pain in the butt, but I did get used to it and it would've dampened any ideas if I was planning on spamming. I don't know how they did it, but the server was a Linux.

What mail server are you using? Merak does this well, but I would bet money you are using Linux :)

This can also be controller if you are on IMail. Enable 'Relay For Local Hosts Only' to get rid of this problem. ;)

TotalHst,

What MTA are you using and on what OS?

Is it qmail or exim or sendmail and what version?

I am asking because I am trying to set up a mail server with qmail and have some ideas on spam protection

I will see if this fool can be of any use..

Cheers
