Firstly, hi all, been away from here a while.

I recently started work for a small PC busines with good potential. (Been out of work for a while till I found a good tech job that's enjoyable and is working for someone that understands the job.) I've seen a good potential for a branded internet service but I'm having poor luck looking for a UK VISP and info on the ones I've found, and my boss is keen since I broached the subject :-)

With the vast knowlege of the industry here I thought to myself perhaps you guys can recommend one that has decent access speed, reliability and works for both the user and the company (ie - us).

Looking for a service that has good revenue potential while being a good service for the users too.

So far the most promising I've found is : http://www.nextra.co.uk/products/net/v_isp/v_isp.html

Can anyone help? Even google is yielding poor results :-(

Glad to be back :-)

You could give www.freebnet.co.uk a try :)

Whats the revenue %age?

Do they offer tel tech support?

I know, I know, how much tech support should be necessary for a dial up account but our potential users are internet virgins mostly, we deal mostly to the street currently. Mass tech support would sink us.

Do they provide user admin and stats etc?

I was a sales manager for a mid-sized isp, and to get national coverage we used Megapop. I *think* they have UK dialup now. Depending on how big you plan to be right from the start, sometimes the best deal lies in isp's that are actually reselling Megapop's (or someone else's) vISP service under their own wrapper. Sometimes they don't require a huge setup fee and have a much lower minimum monthly charge.
If you want to get setup that way, I would recommend the guys I used to work for. You'll pay $300 or $400 US setup, but won't have a monthly minimum. Shoot me an email if you want the contact info.

If you're planning a pretty large operation, it could be feasible for you to get some modems, a radius server and rent a few u's out at a co-lo center.

I will contact you soon, whats being looked at is starting small and low cost and offered along with retailed pc's, clients and anyone else we can interest in using it :-) Seeing how it grows and taking it from there. Take up has good potential.

Primarily were interested if there is a scheme that generates ongoing revenue related to its usage. Even better one that we could extend resold domain hosting to clients as well.

Internet services would need to be uk based but hosting preferrable at american rates :-)

We have a few ideas in mind but need to gen up a bit more to evaluate them.

If we could offer some sort of unmetered service alongside without fear of bankrupting ourselves that would be even better.

Thanks folks.
