Anybody have experience with server4you.com?

How are they on service etc?

More specifically:

1. Uptime?
2. Is software provided initially up-to-date
3. If there are problems, do they respond quickly or charge for chatting with them?

Also this is a strange question, but what is the actual difference between a managed and an unmanaged server:P I understand that a managed server means that there's someone to take care of things server side, but what on earth do they actually do. If a server comes with linux/apache/mysql/php/cgi etc + plesk installed... what kind of problems would one run into that would require somebody to manage the server?

True server management means that, your server kernel and software is updated on a regular basis, your server is checked for security holes, when you need a custom script installed there is someone to install it for you, etc.. If you install a control panel like Plesk (or any other control panel) you will eventually run into a situation that will require you to use the shell. An experianced linux user who provides good server management may be able to fix the problem in minutes, while a user who only knows how to use the web based interface may be in deep trouble. If you do not know anything about linux I would recommend that you learn or get a fully managed server.

cPanel based servers are not that hard to fix. So if you get one, it shouldent be that much of a hastle. I cant say much about Plesk since we havent tested it on UNIX.

Regarding server4u, I have heard good things about them. Try a search on the forums :)
