I am seriously getting a headache from dealing with rackshack and I was just curious is what they are doing now is normal for them. Here is a recent conversation I had with their sales department.
This below is what we get when we call to see when new systems are going to get in.
Me : I was just calling to ask if you know if any of the new p3's are going to me in.
rackshack sales : Sorry we do not know
Me : So you don't know what your company is doing?
rackshack sales : We are not told anything, we don't know anything even the sysadmin doesn't know what is going on.
Me : hmmm, So what your telling me is, you don't know what is going on, nobody in your company knows if you are even going to get any in, and when you do you don't know when they will be ready.
rackshack sales : That is what I am saying.
Me : Why was I told yesterday at 11:30 am that you would have 100 new servers in by last night.
rackshack sales : There is nothing we can do about that, all we know is that they are not ready and nobody seems to know if they will be ready, today, tomorrow, they next day, or the next month.
Me : Okay "thinking to myself, (glad we don't run our company that way)". Have a nice day and I hung up.

Sounds more like a disgruntled sales rep who soon will be on his way out;)
As for your question "is this normal": yes, it is normal that they will not be able to tell you when new servers will be available. Just check their page as often as you can.
No: it is not normal that sales reps behave like this. Although on your second questions you immediatly take what might be concidered an "attitude" Keep your cool, be nice and you'll be treated nice by RS

I understand that some people are having problems with Rackshack but there are some very obvious reasons for this
1. they have a new data center
2. they are migrating all servers from old center to new center
3. they are offering many new servers at the same time
give them some slack. I can imagine that things are crazy there ...
After the transfer to the new center is over and all the bugs are worked out then complain away if you are not getting 100% what you would expect from them.

Why do people want to by a SERVICE from a company like this??
Is it worth saving a few dollars if you have to buy Advil in bulk to keep up with the headaches?

I'm getting a kick out of all these RS bashing posts.. I sort of wondered what the reaction to them transitioning from a "little fish" to a shark might bring in.
I note that some of the posts I see are from disgruntled people who I've also seen have problems on the RS message system.. some of which are problems that could not be further from being RS problems... I also note how quickly some of you who post hosting links in your tagline are to jump on the bandwagon and kick them in the balls... Jeezus guys...
The message that started this thread referenced ONE employee at a company.. The tone then becomes that this is the business model of that company??
Gimme and everyone else a break here. Go read HeadSurfers messages, I'd wager that if that sales person were known to him, he'd be looking for work today.. and/or getting some remedial education on how to handle customers on the phone.
RS has been transitioning from being a clolo based company to a world class hosting company and they had to move in the process.. They are ironing out bugs in thier system but god guys..
Especially those of you who have the "dedicated server" tags.. your comments are only too obviously self serving.. "Yea.. come pay me more... I'll kiss your ass and give you my first born.. don't go with those RS crooks..."
Give it a rest...

Simply put, yes. Wherever there are cheap prices there are people there willing to count the pennies.
People on both ends need to realize that when you get a killer deal, your likely to get less support.... companies have to cut costs to offer super deals nroamlly those costs include good sales/ support. That doesnt mean you shouldnt get deceent service and I'd imagine rackspace does not condone that kind of sales converstion but just realize that you do get what you pay for. If you need a good sales guy and constant support, I suggest you prepare to pay for it, dont expect the whole world for the lowest price.
