Hi!!

First of all, Web Hosting Network would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!

This is just a quick notice that the person that gained access to the billing area has finally come forward (after almost 2 months)

He had no idea that we found out about him gaining access and that we had already re-secured our network.

We have forwarded the emails we got from him to the FBI, but its very likely they will not do anything because he is located in Russia.

His demands were "If you do not give me what I want, I will contact your customers." Basically he had no idea that we already notified all our customers and closed the security breach. It seems he went from host to host and when they wouldnt meet their demands, he figured he would finally come to us.

If you get any email from this person, we ask you to please forward it to admin@www-hosting.net as soon as possible. Its very unlikely he will try to contact you, but if he does, we are just letting you know.

We would also like to re-reiterate that we have closed the security hole and we have and no intrusions into the billing system since we last notified you a few months ago.

Thanks again for hosting with Web Hosting Network

Just like to draw peoples attention to the fact that Rusla is a new member and his only 2 posts have basically been to malign Web-Hosting network.

I'm beginning to have serious concerns that there's been an upsurge in so called "new" members that seem to sign up and promptly throw rumour and dirt at hosts with little or no proof.

As for the email you've posted I actually reckon Web Hosting Network have done the right thing and informed their clients about the problem so they can check their Credit Card accounts for any fraudulent access..

I know there are businesses who'd sit on the info and hope it didn't come to anything which I'm pretty sure most people would feel very annoyed about, especially if they were defrauded. Better to be honest about it I reckon.

So my hat off to Web Hosting Network for doing something constructive and a polite suggestion for you, Rusla, to take your dirt digging elsewhere...

So you are the one that cost's me some client's. Do you have any idea what you could have cost WHN and it's Resellers by your spamming on Web Hosting Network Servers. When you signed up I believe that you have to initial the fact that you have read the TOS from WHN. So either you did not read them, you read them but did not have enough sense to understand them, or you did understand them but did not give a rat's ass about WHN'S policies. Web Hosting Network even though they took a chance in losing clients held up their end of the bargain and gave you the month that you purchased, I hope when this happens to me I have the same patience as they have. I really hope you do not find another host for your site, but you will because there are so many out there. I just hope they catch on to you before they lose customers.

On the topic on the credit card problem. Will let you know I was notified immediately of this problem and was comfortable with what Web Hosting Network was doing to fix the problem.

I have been around Web Hosting for a couple of years now and let me they have always tried to help me out.

SO PUT A SOCK IN IT

Err, I'm pretty new to this board myself, but how is this thread supposed to be defaming WHN, as rusla's other posts seem to be doing?

I am a customer of WHN and a very happy one at that. Tech support is fantasic and server uptime is good also. WHN let their members know on 11/24 about the breakin shortly after it happened and had already taken steps to start fixing the problem. I feel it is very noble of them to keep all their customers notified of any major news such as this and to keep them updated such as the email that was sent out today. I've been with several hosting companies in the past and couldn't be happier with WHN.

Yes, but again, what does that have to do with anything? I'm not the one saying WHN is bad.
