I request that you tell me just how bad my designs are. They're just ideas that I was playing around with and haven't really put anything in. Ignore the dumb text if it's present.

I think 1 is the best, 3 is next, the other two I am not too crazy about, but much better than anything I could do. :)

1 was my favorite by far too. :) Thanks for the compliments!
Out of curiosity and obvious ulterior motive, do you think anybody would be willing to pay a reasonable amount of money to use any of those designs?

2 is my best :), then followed by 1, 3 & 4
Btw, for the 3rd and 4th, the curves are not smooth :(

You asked :)
OK, the main problem I see is that there isn't much going on, and they are very flat. I like to put in a few shadows, gradients, photos or something to liven up the design.
In the first one, I'm not sure the colours go together, and I'm not sure why the bottom rectangle is dithered..The icons beside the menu items (not the ones in the top right though) look a bit small and chuncky..they don't seem to flow together very well..
Second: still not sure about the choise or colour..I would have the main text area white in almost every site I make (well, almost white, a logo etc in the bg somethimes looks good), simply because it is faster to read. Would then go with grays for the borders, so that you can put a colourful logo in of something to get more attention.
I like the third the most, but would not use it for a "serious" site. I don't know what you made the images in, but you need to fine some which uses smoothed lines (don't know how to spell it..: anti-analised or something..) It wouls also look good with a logo etc, but its just a draft, so not a problem.
I can't seem to get the 4th up again..so won't make too many comments..just say too much dead space on the left.
Which image editor are you using? You need smooth images :)
EDT: I can't seem to get into your "www" site either..

Douglas
PS: Do you people think I could go into consulting on other people's designs :D

Thank you all! :) Especially DougBTX, hehehe.
I'm just using MS Paint for now - which is why the lack of graphics (and the not-smooth curves, I guess). May be getting Fireworks for Christmas. I was thinking of maybe adding some sort of techy-looking thing like the image they use on cogentco.com in the top blue area in the first one to sort of spice it up a bit. But well, it would load very quickly like this. :p
