I have seen quite a number of host using this "unmetered". Just an opinion, whats the diff between unmetered and unlimited? Just feel that it gives us web hosting co the leeway shd anything happen. But I really cant see the difference. Just feel that a number shd be appropriate, nothing is infinity or unlimited or unmetered.

Unmetered is slightly differenet. For example we do unmetered servers where the idea is that you have say 10 people sharing a 10mbit pipe. Now they can use as much of that as is free but it is limited to 10mbit so the max they will transfer is 3.2TB. So although there is no fixed transfer limit, there is a theoretical max limit.

With unlimited there is no theoertical limit so I should, by definition be able to transfer as much as I want at any speed I want, which just isn't going to happen

You want to stay away from these hosts, because those offerings aren't possible. Do a quick search and you'll find a bunch of threads on this very subject.

unmetered as Rus explained sharing same port unmetered traffic at 10mbit max for example.

Unmetered is still acceptable as what Rus defined, but it wouldnt be stable, for eg if 1 user use full blast 10mbps , the other 9 will suffer. Unlimited hehe I have seen ppl advertising unlimited bw when they are using 512 kbps cable to host, wonder how much "unlimited" that would be....: ( but still u would be surprised ppl do take it as it is and buy it and compared against those with stated bw limitations.
