Steven 07-03-2004, 09:21 PM the network is great, they use TP's bandwidth never had problems. The hardware is pretty good. The support is decent never had any long support requests. Hostivo 07-03-2004, 09:39 PM Thanks a lot! I will check them out! tamer1988 07-04-2004, 02:55 AM there are very good company with support and servers so go ahed and take it ;) cpbb 07-04-2004, 05:32 AM First class and they like FreeBSD, which says a lot IMO, I have no complaints to date. They are nice people and I recommended them without hesitation. talkster5 07-04-2004, 05:46 AM I am just looking into them and so far they have been amazing. When ever i call them i get the response i want but havent tested their actuall servers yet. cpbb 07-04-2004, 09:43 AM Forgot to say that the network is quick and the hardware is stable. Now am I going to regret saying the hardware is stable :) Hostivo 07-04-2004, 10:08 AM Originally posted by cpbb Forgot to say that the network is quick and the hardware is stable. Thank's for all of your help! cpbb 07-04-2004, 10:15 AM Originally posted by kidclark02 Why are you going to regret saying that the hardware is stable? Thank's for all of your help! Everytime I say "that box has been up for XXX days" they ususally need rebooting, that could be at any NOC or DC. It was just a joke :D Hostivo 07-04-2004, 10:16 AM Ha Ha, thanks for the clarification. cpbb 07-04-2004, 10:23 AM No problem. Perhaps I will use <joke> at the end of my attempts at humour next time. BTW do a search on these people in here, they have been discussed before. pingles 07-04-2004, 11:02 AM So far I've been very happy (just over a month and a half I think). Setup was a couple of days (due to sending CC scans), but contacted me to find out the exact install I wanted (Debian). When I first got onto the box the transfer speeds were well under what I expected (about 100KB/s) and so contacted support to see if they could suggest anything. They got onto it extremely quickly and started testing around, even swapping the NIC around. In the end, even a freshly compiled Intel driver didn't sort it so tried upgrading to the 2.4.26 kernel, and that sorted it fine. So far so good. z280 Hosting 07-05-2004, 12:48 PM If its layeredtech.com their IP is in The Planet SniperDevil 07-05-2004, 01:28 PM Originally posted by z280 Hosting If its layeredtech.com their IP is in The Planet Yes, they colo in TP. ;) Defcon|Rich 07-05-2004, 05:12 PM Can someone clarify what providers they use? I know it is the planets DC but not everyone uses thePlanets providers.. I noticed on their website 'Cogent' advertised... talkster5 07-05-2004, 05:35 PM Talk to me on vent rich, ill give you their details. talkster5 07-05-2004, 05:37 PM I managed to find this but it was for colocation so dont know whether it would be different for dedicated or what. 5 Carrier Backbone connectivity Metro Fiber Networks, GlobalCrossings , ATT, UUNet, Qwest, Internap, Cogent Joshua 07-05-2004, 06:42 PM Originally posted by X-Gaming Can someone clarify what providers they use? They do in fact use TP bandwidth, I've been testing out a server with them. -Josh Defcon|Rich 07-05-2004, 06:44 PM Thank you picoyak 07-05-2004, 06:48 PM I only have one server with LT. It's been pretty solid. Network has been solid with the exception of what looks like one Level3 router - 63.209.48.110 - that sometimes wigs out for a few minutes. But that might just be my route that I happen to get sometimes. Hostivo 07-05-2004, 10:04 PM Thanks a lot! This information is helpful. If you have any more to add please do. z280 Hosting 07-05-2004, 10:33 PM Originally posted by Joshua They just have TP's old bandwidth providers listed on their site. The LT servers have single NICs, I'm not sure if their router has a single or dual network drop from ThePlanet though. Either way though, I've found the network to be rock solid & it performs exactly the same as ServerMatrix & ThePlanet servers (I have an external monitor set up monitoring pings to both SM/TP and LT). - Matt |
