Anybody currently on Paypal's Premier or Business accounts care to comment on Paypal? Personally, it seems to be just too good to be true... :)

For auctions this is great (from bidder point of you), although it doesn't look very professional elsewhere. Saves me having to send cash to states etc when using ebay.

We've been using PayPal for a few months as a secondary payment receipt system. While it has not (and never will) replaced our merchant account, it does offer a second option for our customers who want the flexibility of doing a one-time credit card payment or using a different card each month, etc.

We've been overall quite pleased with it. The cost involved is actually a little less than with our merchant account, but as I said it would never replace our merchant account.

One thing I *really* like PayPal for is the fact that, unlike with our merchant account, charge-backs don't actually cost us anything. We've started using PayPal for all of our collections efforts (where a customer has failed to pay us so we run them through a collections process). In the past we had a very high charge-back rate on collections payments, but with PayPal we don't need to worry about that so much. So that is one advantage to having the PayPal account.

I really like PayPal, I'm glad they went international too..

I still use the personal account, I don't need the business account now, and probably never will.

i went and got a premium account the other day, but their credit card verification is stuffed... instead of debiting 2 small amounts they deducted 1 amount for $1 from my CC and there's no way you can get the 2 lots of 3 digit codes from the 2 vendors with 1 vendor entry :(

I was going to sign up for them as a secondary payment system. As my business phone is a mobile it's got a pretty funky number. After filling out everything correctly, I was informed it wasn't a 'valid' number so I went back and checked it.. Sure enough as all correct. Fired off an email to them about it, and got a canned response the next day, telling me I needed to enter the correct country code.

Umm, I *know* what country I live in, and what it's country code is.

I resigned the email to the trash and didn't bother. Might try again one day if it's becomes a service people request often enough.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that PayPal has some serious security problems? Maybe someone else can clarify that a bit more.

Does anyone know if you can pass variables across the Pay-Pal system -- for instance, take someone's e-mail before they enter the Pay-Pal page, and then get it back when it returns to your site page?

I've asked, but I can't seem to get a straight answer on this.
