Hi,

I am changing my dedicated server from one host to another. My current server has linux6.1, and the new one has linux7.1 with plesk control panel.

I would like to know the easiest and safest method to move the websites from the current server to the new server.

None of the current website has any database.

Webfiles are stored in the respective document root directories under /home/username/www

Also, some user (on the current server) have their emails stored on the server under /var/spool/mail

Thanks

just tar up those directories.. send them over to the new machine and untar them there. Make sure you move all your config files over also.

Since, I would be using the PLESK on the new server, I may not be able to bring the old config files to the new system (i assume plesk has a diffirent method of config files).

I think, there should not be any problem in moving the webfiles to the new system in thier respective directories.

I am not worried about any database (since there is no database on the current system).

My main concern is about the emails. I wanted to know, will they work, if I tar the email files and move them to the new server.

Thanks

Do not just restore the files, plesk also stores email information in DB and it wont detect them under their respective accounts, emails "might" start working but plesk will not recognize them as they wont be in the database, better contact your plesk rep for more info.
