hi all,

I was searching dedicated server how-to's for good advice but many of them are really really bad.

useless howto number I (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=287016)

useless howto number II (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=289736)

these are just few examples. They don't contain much information(if any)

I don't want to hurt anybody but I just felt that these don't suit well with the quality of WHT forums. There are tons of other threads that explain those issues in depth than the ones chosen for howtos

Useless? You may say they are useless but do you need to know how to build a server? The person who started the thread may have gained alot of information from the thread and may have found it very useful.

If you see something you believe doesn't belong, please use that 'Report this post to a Community Leader' link and we'll look into it.

Sometimes we'll agree with you. Sometimes, we won't.

Thanks. :)

thanks SoftWareRevue. I figured out that you already have a firm grasp of the treads going on at WHT so I thought that course of action would be useless(since I thought you already read those howtos and approved them).

I just think that more in depth howtos would be beneficial for all the community. I wish I have the knowledge to write one but I don't. However I belive that there are many people on the board who have this vast knowledge

We used to utilize a 'How-To Approval' Forum. But, as it grew, we failed to keep up with moving threads. So, we stopped that and allow members to post directly to the relevant How-To forum. Sometimes they mean to post their thread in the main forum, but it makes it to the 'How-To' instead.

Once-upon-a-time, I used to read every post in every forum.

However, that is no longer possible.

Even with the staff we carry now, we rely heavily on members that help by reporting posts.
