View Full Version : best dediced server for ~100$ a month?
disgust 07-01-2004, 06:04 PM I was originally planning on going with ev1's server (celeron 1.3 ghz, 512 ram, 60gb hd, 1TB transfer) which at the time I thought was a pretty decent deal..
but I also ran into:
server-matrix's 99$ a month 2.4ghz p4, 1 gig of ram, 80gb hd, 1.2TB transfer). I'm almost amazed that so many people suggest ev1 when someone offers so much more for a similar price- is there something I'm missing?
would you suggest going with server-matrix? or any other hosts for around 100$ a month?
also, do you know any decent way of knowing if we'd be pushing the limits of the server short of actually trying it?
JHServers 07-01-2004, 06:11 PM First of all, it's servermatrix not server-matrix. We have multiple boxes between ServerMatrix and The Planet and we absolutely love them. I would definetely reccomend them out of almost all providers. They have an amazing network with very little to no downtime.
josue 07-01-2004, 06:11 PM Hi,
i will recommend you a company i've dealt with for the last 3 months, and now i am still amazed by the services they offer. :)
I have with them a 2.4Celeron with 512mb ram, 80GB HDD, 1TB transfer, Cpanel/WHM and Fully Managed (and with Fully i mean they help you do almost anything, it is truly amazing). It is on AboveNET. Just great :)
They reseller for some datacenters and i am sure you will find a server in your price range if you just contact them :)

RayWomack 07-01-2004, 06:18 PM Yes, I too recommend Server Matrix. I hope they suck the $99 server market dry.
The only thing my business prays for NOW is more $99/month server Matrix customers! What a BOON!
disgust 07-01-2004, 06:59 PM one thing I noticed about servermatrix is the lack of a free control panel option... is there any particular reason they don't even offer ensim basic for free?
also, with theplanet, I had trouble finding budget (100$-ish a month) servers.. am I missing them?
buyourweb 07-01-2004, 07:04 PM We use a great reseller called http://www.webhostingplaza.com . They are very friendly and helpful. We recommend them to everyone.

Yeah, I say you also get what you pay for:bawling:
ChaosHosting 07-01-2004, 07:12 PM PSF... no offense but do you have to come to every SM thread to bash them because you had a bad experience?

DD-SNC 07-01-2004, 07:15 PM I just dont think he likes the $99 server market. I don't care for it too much either.
Shoey 07-01-2004, 07:25 PM Try wholesaleinternet.com - they are very helpfull, have good prices.
Get a P4 (cpanel, fantastico included) for $99.

Yes, that is mostly it.
SM left a very nasty taste in my mouth. I freely share my opinions, as do many of their happy customers.
There are many that OVER PROMOTE them! I just think I add BALANCE.
What is the opposite of BASHING? HYPING?
disgust 07-01-2004, 07:33 PM well, uh, thanks for that.
any more suggestions for a ~100$ a month server that includes at least ensim basic, and offers more than ev1's 1.4ghz celeron package?
servermatrix sounds nice but I don't like the additional 20$ a month for cpanel, and they don't offer a free ensim addon..
RayWomack 07-01-2004, 07:38 PM Do you know what Ensim Basic really is?
