I have a client (who is fairly knowledgeable) who has 5 or 6 domains with us.

4 of those domains he has registered thru a place called inexpensivedomains.com.

To login to their control panel you have to go to

https://www.registrarpdq.com/login.asp?ec=32004C042069118159021447F&refd=inexpensivedomainsregistration.com

So I'm not sure who the registrar is.

The problem is this....about two weeks ago we get an email from the client asking why his sites are down....(his sites are on 2 different servers)....after some research all 4 of his domains DNS had been changed to the DNS of the registrar. None of the domains are expired or in dispute.

He finally gets things changed back over and pointing to our servers again....

AND NOW yesterday one of the domains DNS is pointing to the registrars DNS yet again.....

Here is the only response he was able to get from the registrar, after the first episode 2 weeks ago....

Hi Al,

I went to: xx***********

It works for me... As far as the DNS, it looked like it was some old DNS that was there which may have defaulted to the default name servers.

Regards, blah, blah, blah

So does anyone have any idea what could be going on here, or have you ever had this problem before?

Thanks

as far as I could check, inexpensivedomains.com is a reseller of Tucows. To get the problem solved, there's no way to go but to contact inexpensivedomains.com and demand them to change things back also the default thingy...ask them to tell u the detailed reasons why all these happened...tell them that u will take some measures if the same thing happens again. Good luck!

registrarPDQ.com is an enom product for icann accredited registrars to use their softwares.

just whois the domain and see whois the registrar using for example www.whois.sc/ADSSADSAD.XXX and it will show the registrar info at the top.

Unfortunately this happens to some of the other
registrars (some of my friends complained & told
me about this). Up to now, they won't say what
caused them other than someone logging in.

If I get at least 1 answer, I'll post it.

Your client might of enabled a service like url forwarding or email forwarding. If they do, the DNS will change to the registrars so that the service can work, If you are using your DNS it is a good idea never to touch any of the extra "goodies" they might give you.
