Hi!
I would like to register a .BIZ domain but I can't understand which are the requirements: on opensrs.net I read that it must be used for commerce, while on speednames.com and others I read that there are no special requirements.
So, can anybody clear this to me?
(I am a private citizen who would like to use that domain for a personal site, not to sell things)
Thanks in advance
Best regards, :)

HI!
If you intend on registering a .biz, it is quite suggested that it should be for business. I mean biz stands for business, right?
You may argue, what about a .com it should be for commercial as well. Then, why are there personal sites that have .com? Don't ask me. The .com must have been so popular that anybody can just get it. :)
If you intend on getting a .biz for personal site, I suggest you get a .com instead. With regards to special requirements for a .biz, I have no clear idea. Sorry.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!
Unluckily .com, .net, .org and .it (the most interesting extensions) are already taken :(
Dose anybody know the specific requirements?
Thanks again.
Cheers,

Here's some text from the actual registry which controls the way these domains are used (http://www.neulevel.biz/):
Do .BIZ domain names have any restrictions?
Yes. The .BIZ domain can only be used for a "bona fide business or commercial use". A bona fide business use is one of the following:
To exchange goods, services, or property of any kind;
In the ordinary course of trade or business; or
To facilitate (i) the exchange of goods, services, information, or property of any kind; or, (ii) the ordinary course of trade or business.
Registering a domain name solely for the purposes of (1) selling, trading or leasing the domain name for compensation, or (2) the unsolicited offering to sell, trade or lease the domain name for compensation does not constitute a "bona fide business or commercial use" of that domain name.
For illustration purposes, the following do not constitute a "bona fide business or commercial use" of a domain name:
Using or intending to use the domain name exclusively for personal, noncommercial purposes; or
Using or intending to use the domain name exclusively for the expression of noncommercial ideas (i.e., registering abcsucks.biz exclusively to criticize or otherwise express an opinion on the products or services of ABC company, with no other intended business or commercial purpose).
This would mean the documentation at OpenSRS is correct.
Now you can certainly register a domain and use it for personal use, but if a business comes along and wants your domain name, you will lose it in a domain dispute with no recourse, since you are using it illegally. You will be out your registration fee, and the business will own your domain. The only one who wins in the domain reseller...
I would expect that any domain reseller you choose would have this information available to you on their website, and would not be encouraging you to use .biz domains for anything other than a bona-fide business.
