Send a polite email to your host asking them to install it. It's no biggie and if their customer service is any good they'll install it for you.

oh my...they don't have Zend Optimizer?

If you support PHP then it's a MUST have!

I give it 2 thumbs up :)

Now, over to roger ;)

Pilgrim is right. Most hosts will install it if you ask.

We’ve looked into the situation and the Zend optimizer can not be installed on the server. You will need to have it configured and running from your cgi-bin. I’m sorry to not be able to help but we can’t add it to our servers as its presents would affect all our users. Zend should be able to supply instructions for running the optimizer from the cgi-bin. If there is anything else we can do for you please feel free to e-mail us anytime.

Here is Tera-Byte reply:
We will not be installing it at this time.

Here is JaguarPC reply:
Hi, and thank you for inquiring about our services. Our current
configurations do not have the zend optimizer. Our new proprietary software
will include the zend optimizer with every server configuration but we do
not have a scheduled release date for that software at this time. Please let
us know if you have any other questions at any time.

Hmm.. don't you need zend encoder to get the reall good benefits of zend optimizer? And at last check zend encoder costs $2400 .....
ahhh .... nevermind

Not really, Zend Optimizer as the name suggests optimizes PHP output, we have seen a LOT of improvement with that in quiet a lot of sites, what Zend did was instead of making a different "loader" to load encoded files they incorporated it right into the core of Optimizer which makes it available to large no of people who can now run encoded files.

I agree :)
What i meant was you could see the most improvement with the encoder supposedly (though i have not used it before) ... I did use zend optimizer before, and if it wasn't for microtime benchmarking, all my scripts never felt faster in real life (cause with or without, they loaded nearly instantaneous :) ), but of course the benchmarks show they did. Of course if you have a complex and data crunching script, I am sure the optimizer will help much more and make a client feel the difference ... but in my experience, a mysql bottleneck has been the main clog in the pipe.
