After a week that i bought a Compaq Presario 700US Notebook...
Things have been great until i decided to look at my System information via WinXP Home Edition.

This is what I paid for......

AMD Duron 900 mhz
256 MB RAM
20 GB HD 5400 RPM
DVD

This is what i got:
AMD Duron 490-640 mhz
240 MB RAM
18.6 GB HD
DVD

is it me or do I not have a duron 900? :eek:

You should have bought a Dell ;) No just kidding. I've heard of this problem a lot with XP. You do have a 900 and I bet your laptop is acting like you have a 900. Try www.techtv.com/screensavers because I think the had a fix for this

Well I don't know about your CPU speed but in most Compaqs, the video card uses system memory. Your vidcard probably has 16MB RAM and 256 - 16 = 240 which is what it shows you. As for the HD, they think 1MB = 1,000KB but Windows thinks 1MB = 1,024KB, so HDs actually have a bit less than what the box says
