I was cleaning out my storage and come across a bunch of my old comic. There are two in particular that I am curious of the value on.

Whitman Marvel Star Wars Collectors Edition 1977. These are the BIG ones, about twice the size of a normal comic. I have both #1 and #2. They have the thicker front covers, almost like cardboard. This is even before the spelling changes for the robots...they spell them See Threepio and Artoo Detoo. At least I have always seen them spelled differently everywhere else...

Any idea of the approximate value of these?

Is there a subtitle on them? It sounds like you have a couple of the trade paperbacks, by the description. Most of those from the late 70s are running around $10 US for mint.

Subtitle? Not sure if this is what you mean, but right under the big red "Star Wars" it says "An official adaption of the 20th century fox blockbuster movie!"

These two books are an actual comic version of the three star wars movies. They are also too big for my scanner :(
No, wait....it's just Star Wars...the first one. There's even a full page ad in it for the movie in the theatres. So this came out right when the movie was released.

Inside the cover it says Vol. 1, No. 1, 1977 issue and Vol. 1, No. 2, 1977 issue.

My buddy is a big fan of the movie, though not of comic books per se. I could ask him if he'd be interested in buying them?

Here they are...

I havent been able to find these anywhere so as to get approx sell value....though I guess value is determined by how badly someone would want them... They were too big for my scanner, so I had to scan in pieces and put them together.

I have the first one in that series, but it's in crappy condition. Never thought about selling it. But it's interesting to read, because there are parts that weren't in the movie, but were in the original screen play.

Like luke's buddy from tattooine (sp?) leaves to join the rebellion, and he comes and says goodbye to luke.

I think he's one of the guys that dies in the battle at the end, so it would have more drama if you actually knew who he was.

anyway...

Nice condition there.

In the end, comics are just like domain names - only worth what someone wants to pay. I found a guy with multi copies of those at http://www.geocities.com/moredollys/Comics/comics.htm#se_1 (he has them a bit out of order, I think). He doesn't have any asking prices, but the others listed on the same page are in the $20 US range. Another site I found has the SE #1 listed with some damage at $10.50 US, so somewhere between $10 and $20 US does look like a good range.

BTW, that Kobra is probably worth about a buck or thereabouts, mint.
