I'm not offended by it, of course I know some people that'd be offended that the word "god" didn't have a capital G.

Doesn't bother me..but the moderator shouldn't have said that anyway

I think it would be going too far to censor things such as that. Censoring words at all is mainly to keep the board suitable for all ages. In this case, it wasn't even used in a malicious context.

Fair enough that people should be careful with the words they use, but can't you just take offence to it and move on? The stars don't even block out the intention behind using those words, and surely that's the main problem!

While I agree that some words need to censored, I think that might be going a little far. As Lawrence mentioned it's not hard to fill in the blanks on what they 'original' word was as it is. :)

I think it's better to have some leeway in respect to people expressing themselves with lesser terms (offence wise), than to start trying to beat the censor by using variations of naughty words.

I have no problem with a combination of those two special words.

I think the right to use these 2 words together is a constitutional right, you know, the 1st Amendment. And something american soldiers usually fight for, among other values...

Nobody wrote f**k G*d, that was nowhere near. So, I'm not sure why anybody should be censored based on what you're referring to.

Would you mind being more specific?

I know it's not stone engraved "thou shall use these two words", but still, what's beyond "No it isn't"?

Well it is if you believe in the 10 commandments lol :)

I know it's not stone engraved "thou shall use these two words", but still, what's beyond "No it isn't"? It may provide "Freedom of Speech" so to speak; but in no way will support "Freedom to say whatever I feel like saying to whoever I feel like saying it whenever I fell like saying it."

Not to mention . . . . The original poster asked,

"Anyone agree that the combinations of those 2 words can offend people and should be removed?"

In which case, your off-ramp into the U.S. Constitution (or ammendments thereof) should probably be in a thread of it's own.

More explaination coming; after I've had some coffee and a piece of pie. :D

"off-ramp", I have to remember this one, I like it :D

OK, I'm eager to read more explanations; I'm not trying to say that I know better than you, so please, do.
We can start a different thread if you wish, although NOW it's a matter of where you stand: I believe writing 'I find scary that somebody could have others' posts censored just by categorizing them as offensive' isn't all that off-topic after all. Even though I phrased it more like 'I used to believe we didn't have to worry about such things happening'.

I also believe that another thing that is guaranteed is that no one shall be discrimante based upon religious beliefs, but here, I'm not reading anything actually malicious.

ps: again I'm genuinely interested in more explanations pertaining to the first amendment.

For starters, the US Constitution and first ammendment only apply to Americans...

:D

Lawrence makes a valid point. ;)

Another is; the owner of this board can censor any words they choose. You can choose to not use this board if it doesn't meet your needs. That's the short of it. Message boards are not ruled by popular vote. But they are, rather, a dictatorship. You have a right to move on though if you disagree with the ruling party.

And I think that is what the original poster was referring to.

"Why does the board admin censor certain words?"

Because he can. And it is within his rights.
Nothing to do at all with the U.S. Constitution and laws.

What happened to my message??

Anyway, here goes:

SoftwareRevue, thank you for the 'off-ramp' explanation :)

Also, point well taken. I guess I'm not familiar with the American Constitution. Yet, I keep reading it ( with a twisted Old-Continent mind :D )

I always find it a bit humorous when us Americans go around claiming Freedom of Speech everywhere they go. Not pointing at anyone here, just noting that this right doesn't apply in a good number of places such as schools, public buildings, someone's website, etc. If you go walking around outside yelling "F*** you all!" my bet is you'll get your ass dragged downtown. If you tell your boss to kiss your ass, you're still gonna get fired.

And beyond that, the US Constitution says "Congress shall make no laws" restricting freedom of speech, etc. Those constitutional restrictions are limits only on what the US government can do; they don't apply to website moderators.
