We suspended an account today for email abuse through our server. To make a long story short the customer says its a billing issue at first, which it was not, and then threatens us with DDos attacks, notifying the FBI of us being a fraud and notifying his thousands of members to turn against us.

What can I do to this freak show?

I am willing to spend whatever is nessassary to take of this problem to the fullest extent of the law. Please make suggestions, Thank you very much

The FBI won't do anything for you, sorry.

As the other poster has said, I would just ignore it and hope that he doesn't DDoS you.

I need to take this further. I dont like being threatened. Anyone know of what type of attorney would handle this type of matter? Thank you

Have your lawyer (you do have one right?) send him a really nasty letter, you're lawyer should know the drill. Make sure it's sent to the kid's parents, I'd bet cash you're not dealing with an adult anyway.

Edit: just saw your latest post - most any decent lawyer should know how to send mean letters, shouldn't cost you too much to get single "stop it or we'll get mean" certified letter to the punk in question.

Contacting an attorney for a civil suit against this moron, should he DDoS you, will probably result in nothing but a large bill for you.

It's very hard to prove these things in a court of law, and quite frankly, the chances of him being prosecuted are very slim.

Never needed a lawyer before so I do not have one.

This is an adult. He has 8 accounts and the quality and content of the sites are far from childsplay.

Are any of the sites in violation of any state / federal laws?

I remember one of his customer along time ago complained to us calling his business an online scam. I never checked into it because I just thought it was a disgruntled customer of his but have notified the FBI and provided all his domains for them to check into. Thank you

Dixiesys gave some good advice. You're not being physically threatened so at this point your 'psycho client' hasn't broken any law. A letter from a lawyer would go a long way though I believe. It shouldn't cost too much. And you should probably have a lawyer you know you can call on for your business even if you've never needed one in the past. It sucks to have to find a good one after something's already happened.

Edit: this was written before the 'possible fraud' post.

Yes, I will research my local area on Monday for a good lawyer.

I would just let it go unless it does something.

It's so hard for me to allow my business to be threatened after all the years and hard work I put in to just let it go. Thank you

Yup, if I ran around chasing every nut job that threatened me/us...I'd be spending all of my time in court and all of my money on attorney fees.

You're thinking with your pride and emotion. Stop and use your head...like a true professional business owner would. Let it go.

Tina hits it on the head really.

I'd wager this "guy" is all mouth and no trouser (pants for my US cousins :P)

Ignore him and move on. It's nice and easy :)
