Ok here's the deal

I have a Dsl connection running into a linksys 4 port router.
I have a win 2000 adv server connected thru DHCP to the router.

I have set up a 56 k modem to accept incoming calls.

What i need to know is how to set up The server to share the DSL connection???

Any thoughts

First off, lose the advanced server and go with server (or make sure to uninstall load balancing and clustering)

You will need to configure RRAS (routing and remote access). Basically, you are going to configure/allow your modem to accept new incoming calls and log onto your network. From there, you will also need to configure NAT so that the non-routeable IP that is assigned to the remote user can access the net. It's actually pretty easy.

Let me know if you have any questions.

You won't need RADIUS if it's only for a couple of people to connect to your line...

RADIUS are meant for a controlled system of user authentication... anything more than 100 users...

Anyway, bear in mind the following:

56k dialup connection - In case you didn't know... 56k connections are only possible on a downlink (max is 53,000bps I think...), uplink is still 33,600bps max... that is IF you connect to an ISP (they use some devices at their end to make it work at 56k..

For point-to-point line to line connection with 2 x 56kbps modem (1 each side), you'll get only 33.6kbps up and 33.6kbps down coz you don't have that device... so it ain't THAT fast after all...

Alternatively, you can make your own ADSL connection between your 2 location...

Home -> Office -> DSL Internet
Own DSL | Telco DSL

How this can be done? Order a dry copper pair from your telco. Distance between the 2 location must never exceed 5km radius. Then you can hook up each a DSL modem and with the correct settings, voila - you have your own up to 2mbps DSL between Home and Office... then from Home, to surf the net... it will go thru your existing office DSL Internet connection ;)

I have no links to show you now (in office) on how this own DSL can be done... but you can do a search in Google.com about it... if that's what you're trying to achieve... if not, ignore this idea :p
