I'm just curious as to if any of you here have had and have cancelled an ADDR.com account. I see nothing listed on their godforsaken site anywhere about how to go about cancelling. I'm just gonna e-mail them and hopefully get a response soon. I just want to know if anyone has had problems, like they kept charging your credit card after you cancelled or did any other bogus stuff. I'm planning on transferring my website to AletiaHosting.com this weekend and just want to make sure it'll go smoothly. Knowing ADDR it'll probably take them a week to process my request to cancel my account.
LOL! It's funny you should mention this.. about a week ago I got an email from ADDR saying that I owe them $293.03 from when I was signed up...... like 3 years ago :D!. So if I were you, I would send cancellation emails until I got a response saying that your request has been granted, print that email, and call it a done deal. Hopefully they don't have your credit card info... :eek

Distant forum memory...
Was ADDR the one who had the 6 month billing cycles or was that another host? Again, working from some possibly incorrect forum posts...

I don't think so. Many moons ago I had an ADDR account (for a week), and it was billed monthly. When I got no reply at all from their tech support for close to a week I cancelled. Got a refund about a week after that, and never heard from them again...

Damnit... I e-mailed to cancel my account yesterday, they billed me for another month today anyway and the site is still up on their server. It took them a week to respond to my last e-mail... ridiculous. I was just gonna switch right over to Aletia this weekend, but I've been reading tons of complaints about them from users the past week or so... hmm...

I was with ADDR for about a week. The only thing they ever did was set the account up for me...but you had to request everything (like the dbases) be set up seperatly. It was annoying...and they never responded to my requests. They never once charged me...I think they were just generally screwed up.
I finally found a good host--Aletia to be exact...so decided to dump ADDR. I couldn't find the cancel directions either, so I emailed them. 6 days later...after I had already established an account elsewhere, and the nameservers were changed and everything--they responded to me.
They told me to "use the form on the site."
That was really helpful...
I think I eventually found a form that allowed me to do an "other" type of request for the account. It got cancelled...I was never billed. It was very odd.
ON a side note, I've been with Aletia for awhile now and they've been great! The past few days, they've been having some bazaar server problems, and they've been slow to respond, but they've been keeping up with things just fine. My site was down twice, but only for short periods each time. THey're a good choice...and whenever I've had a question or problem, they've been right on top of things. Even with the problems, I like them--and I am VERY judgemental and picky about my hosts.
I'm usually that one customer---the one that you shouldn't have pissed off--the one who will make your life a living hell--that's me. BUt I only do it if you deserve it. And, I've only had to be nasty with one host...
That being said...if I'm glowing about a company, they're doing something right! LOL
