Hi,
I'm a bit lost with a procedure for domain holder change. The domain is reg. with Joker.com as a CORE member.

I have agreed with someone to sell the domain to them. Now they sent me a weird form to sign, in order to authorize some sort of transfert, but I think this isn't the owner change yet. It looks like they want me to change the tech and zone contacts of the domain to their host, before sending me the money we have agreed on. What is this good for? What power do they get over my domain by being themselves (or their provider) tech contact and zone contact?

The form looks like this: (partly in german)

Einverständniserklärung zum Providerwechsel
Agreement for changing from CORE -> CORE

Admin-C MyNameHere (full address, phone, email)

Als Domaininhaber (Registrant) der Domain

MyDomain.com

stimme ich der Übernahme meiner Domain zu. Ich bin einverstanden, dass diese Domain durch den Antragsteller von CORE -> CORE übernommen werden soll.

I am owner of the domain MyDomain.com
And want to change from CORE -> CORE

Signature: _________ (guess I'm supposed to sign here..)

tec-c: COCO-961063
zone-c: COCO-961063
NS1: COHO-20029
NS2: COHO-440
UID: Heitech

Now, what do I agree to if I sign this and send it to them?
Should I do this before having received the money?
Would this form be my authorization to holder change?

I think not, but frankly, I don't quite understand the form.

Does anyone of you? :)

Hmm... noone knows?

What I wonder most, is if by letting them be the tec-c and zone-c, I actually give them control over the domain, or not...

I wouldn't do anything without getting a bill of sale out of the way first.

You should have them send you two copies of a bill of sale, both signed.

You sign one of the bills of sale and return it. Sign the other one and keep it.

When they get their copy of the bill of sale, they send you the consideration.

When you receive the consideration, you transfer the domain name.

Yes, that's what I'm going to do,
ask them to sign a contract,
good suggestion,
after that I guess it's not so important if I give the domain first or receive the money first, after all the buyer is a company...

So, it's actually an academic question, but I still wonder:
What power does the tec-c and zone-c have?

Yeah, I've never heard of a "zone" contact being used by a registrar. I wonder what that is. It's still probably who is listed as the registrant that has ultimate ownership of the domain name, but usually if the registrant isn't listed as a contact, then they have a hard time actually having control of the domain name.

Personally I wouldn't even list them as a contact or make any DNS transfers until I had the bill of sale. If they're in a hurry to use it, then they should be in a hurry to get you that bill of sale. IMHO.
