If you're buying online, be sure to check the vendor out at http://www.resellerratings.com/ before you make the purchase...

Also, you can compare prices at http://www.streetprices.com/ ant http://www.epinions.com/ (among other places).

What kind of camera are you looking for, what specs, and what's your budget?

I'm partial to Olympus Camedia products, and amazon has a sale going on. The D-370, last time I checked earlier this week, was $189.95. Too bad I don't have any money ;_;

http://www.steves-digicams.com is also another place with excellent reviews (5 pages with pictures of the camera menus and sample images), if you don't know which one you are going to get.

The thing is that all of them are getting pretty damn good, and the choice is harder than it was a few years ago. There are many under $300 that kick butt! I want them all personally.

http://www.buydig.com tends to have some of the lowest prices on many things, though their shipping is about $25+ (which still usually brings it to less than many places).

The gateway accessory store had cameras for about $25 more (including free shipping), but I will tell you that once I ordered, the product wasn't avail. (backordered). I just checked and WHOOO-HOOO! It was shipped the 12th and should arrive soon.

Also, for about $50 more than digibuy, Ritz camera (see mall near you), usually has decent prices (surprisingly) on cameras. Advantage is that you might be able to get it without ordering it (and it being backordered, etc.)

Before buying digicam be sure to check for price and functions as the models updated quite frequently. 2 most useful review sites to me were steves-digicams.com and dpreviews.com. If have time also go to dcresource.com and dcviews.com. Then finally to amazon's and epinion's reviews becoz generally these 2 sites don't reflect the techniques but can become quite handy when you're looking for some personal tips and advices.

I dun have the DSC-P5 or DSC-F707 as they seem quite pricy to me. For $600-1000 (wow... high end models  ) you can almost go for any good model, though my favouite is olympus D-460, not expensive, but very powerful, high resolution and nice LCD display. Bought for quite some time still played it a lot.

Oh yea... don't forgot to invest a little bit on rechargable batt, extra memory cards, card readers (USB of course) and etc.

What? You mean the 2MB card that comes with the camera isn't enough? *wink*

"1 day, 1 picture" for your 4-day trip to tibet (try use super high resolution), it's enough. :D

Yup.. I went through MSN's holiday promotion which will get me $80 back. I'm then going to pricematch it to another online store with my amex blue.

Hi all!

I have plans of replacing an old camera for a new digital camera for our web design business. We want great ones. Any suggestions? And kindly place the price range so that we will have an idea.

Thanks.

:)

Suggestion: You tell us your price range. These things go from just over $100 to $1,000+

HI! Thanks for the quick response. I am looking something within the range of $300-500. Got suggestions? As of the moment, I am interested with Olympus D-460 as mentioned by Turtle.

I am planning to use the digital camera to take photos for future web design use. We don't want to burden clients looking for pictures themselves.

Will this model serve the purpose?

:)
