I am trying out Dream Weaver and want to know if it has support for borders. I noticed I can put a line around a block, but I would like to have a rounded border, with a shadow under it. Do I have to draw this myself? If so, I'm still not even sure how to put them into Dream Weaver. I would like the body to still be text.

Thank you,

Neofree

Yes, if you want a rounded border, you need to use a graphic. DW will be able to use any graphic file. After all, it is only an HTML editor.

OK. I figured it would be more of a builder that includes stuff like that. That's fine, but how? I know how to insert an image. But how do I insert a border?

Thanks,

I have been using Dreamweaver since version 1.0 and one thing they have improved is their online help. Use the help tab it has alot of great information, as long as i've been using it, I still use the help tab regularly. As far as the borders go, and graphics, Dreamweaver is very tightly integrated with Fireworks and you would greatly expand on the functionality of it by using both.

Also a really biggie are the extensions. Dreamweaver has a section on their site dedicated to extensions(simply scripts that make alot of these things easier) and you can download them for free! check them out. They have even made it easy to get to just go to Commands>Get More Commands.....sign in and browse the extensions, try them out.!

DW supports borders as far as it can use tables with borders / frame images with borders, but it can't add a shadow, or outline to images - DW is a html editor, you would need to use a graphics program such as FW to edit images in the way you described.

Use tables.

yes, The last answer is the correct one.
Create a table and make this image the background image.
If you want to optimise your page. Then cut this image and make many cells and place the cut image there. If you are using Fireworks (another Macromedia product) for graphics then you can even get the html for the slices.. and then embed that in your html page.

Have a great day :)
