hi

Our company is in desparate need for an overhaul for our shopping cart system (custom basic system built in 2001, with very pricey "custom" add-ons along the way) and I've now decided to go the easy, pre-packaged route (since some of the packages cost less than it costs me to have a single custom feature added to our current site), narrowing it down to several asp.net based carts.

also - with this - keep in mind we have a friend / developer that loves to work with .net, does great work / has done great work for us, and we love to work with - so I am really only searching for an .net solution that is open source so that he will have an easy time customizing it for us as we need it.

I made a checklist of features that we currently use or absolutely need (whether or not included with the basic cart or available as an $add-on$), and I found 2 that sound totally capable without getting too deep in custom development.

One was Storefront 6 - but after reading many messages on here slamming their coding, I found another company (via google) called aspdotnetstorefront.com . Their software has 95% of the features I want already built into it, and is incredibly cheap ($300 for pro version) and comes with the complete C++ or VB source as well... but I have no idea who this company is, nor can I find any reviews of their software... hence my hesitation...

Also - I found xsenet cart with some favorable reviews tonite ( search for xsenet on google since I'm a newbie and cant post urls ), but havent gotten to really look over their features much - so if anyone uses this, please drop me a line.

If anyone has any experience (and / or other cart suggestions), please feel free to email / PM me. Please keep in mind that we are a fairly large store in our field (almost 12k+ in stock items on the site; and we usually add 100-200 per week) so we can't roll with one of the lower-end / free commerce offerings that can't handle the amount of products / traffic.

also - if anyone has any suggestions for a host that offers reliable dedicated win2003, ms sql, .net hosting, management / backups, etc etc - please feel free to email as well because I can't make heads or tales of all the arguments on here since I can't tell who's the actual users and who's the resellers trying to make a buck.

thanks for the sticking around this far -
j

We used Hostway for about 4 years before getting our own servers. They were pretty good & priced pretty reasonable.

I have not used aspdotnetstore - have heard a few random comments & most seems good. It also seems that have a download version that you can download.

Also, you might review: www.bvcommerce.com as well. It looks pretty easily expanded, but seems to lack some more advanced features.

Contact Corey Bryant. We moved our site to his company a few months ago and have been really happy. They also provided us with all our e-commerce stuff (i.e., merchant account, payment gaeway and shopping cart).

yes, we've had many customers of your size use our product. Have you contacted us for any details?

Hopefully he's found a solution in the past two years.

I'd suggest you read these details (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/rules.php).
