Hello,

I am not a full fledged web host but I plan on raising funds to support my site using a limited time webhosting deal. Basically my website (in profile) is getting too large for a shared account and advertising is really sour at the moment and cannot come close to paying for a dedicated server.

I am planning on getting a rackshack.net server with plesk. This will definately leave some room for a lot of extra smaller websites although I really want to limit it to 25 additional small-medium sized sites. But before I can go on with this I have to make sure that I can do the things I want to in a cost effective way.

1) How well does plesk handle subdomains.
2) Does it support subdomains without usage of additional ip's
3) Can a person upload to a certain account (name based not ip based) and view that page before the subdomain or domain resolves?

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

web_res, you'll get a much better audience for your question (and therefore a better/quicker answer) if you posted it at http://forum.plesk.com/ or http://forum.rackshack.net/ .... Just a suggestion. :)

To tell you the truth neither of those sites are very helpful.

Plesk has sub-domains act like true domains. This is good in some cases like that you can have email go to a sub-domain. The down falls to this are each sub-domain you have takes off of your Plesk Domain license. Some people get around this by getting the unlimited domain license. There is still another problem though. If you set it so that your client can add 10 sub-domains, there is nothing stoping them from adding 10 true domains. This is something I (and I don't think I'm alone here) would like to see fixed in the next version of Plesk.

It would be nice to see an option for adding subdomains how they have it now, as well as, just a subfolder redirect type subdomain, which uses space and resources of the main domain, yes.

Thanks for the info/confirmation... it looks like the control panel will work for me in this case.
