Hello, Everybody!

***Sigh!*** I am in the process of trying to figure out how to keep track of all the billing for my little company when it starts up, and I have done some pretty exhaustive searches for software--I even considered using outsourcing my billing, just for the recurring billing. But in the end, I have decided to use my merchant account & Authorize.net.

Here's the deal--I have found a program on SuperScripts.com that will not only keep the customer info, but with one click, will interface with my ANet account & charge my clients. However, I don't need a lifetime membership to Superscripts (for $249, the only way to get the script).

At this point, I'd be happy to have a simple desktop billing database that will allow me to track my clients info, then be able to export that info in a delimited file, so I can do a batch upload to my account once a month.

I know I could create something in MS Access, but with everything else, I really don't have the time. Is there any other product out there that can do this? (I'm not sure if Quicken, or one of those would suffice) I'm almost ready to simply use an Excel spreadsheet, so your help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi there! I like Auth.net as well. I've heard complaints from folks regarding service, but I've never had a problem receiving a reply.

I'm starting off as a reseller for Annette's company (HostingMatters). After I crunched the numbers, it just seemed feasable to pour my heart (and resources) into taking care of the customers , and when I have enough clients, move over to a dedicated server. This will also give me some time to learn all the in's & outs of running a server before I start.

The funny thing is, I almost signed up with Alabanza several months ago (when they were still $400 a month), because of the automation they offer. But as easy as they make running a server, I still figured I didn't know enough yet. So now I'm stuck looking for an easy way to do my billing!!!

Thanks for your reply. I did take a look at Revecom, but since I already have a merchant account, it doesn't make sense to outsource my billing & pay higher fees.

What I'm looking for is a simple program to keep track of billing information only, and be able to export data to a delimited file for upload to Authorize Net. (This is the way Auth.net allows for recurrant billing--you have to do a batch upload every month.)

How did you come in your search for a billing solution.

I'm still looking, though I have a few ideas possibilities lined up. If all else fails, I will just use a souped-up Excel Spreadsheet.

I checked out QuickBooks & Peachtree--these are complete solutions for a back office, and a bit more than what I need right now. I was just looking for something down & dirty to keep only the billing info in, and that would allow me to export to a text file.

By the way, I had written Authorize.Net & asked if they could simply put a radio button in their database that would allow merchants to rebill that client automatically.

Their reply was that they won't do it because they are afraid that if a customer leaves a company, that company may forget to take that customer off of recurring billing, causing the charge to come back to A.Net.

My first thought was that the charge-back would be to me, not Auth.Net...but what do I know? Either way, I think that's a silly reason not to make a merchant's life easier.

WHM billing is a good software.
Also if you haven't taken you merchant account. Consider Worldpay. They have a recurring billing system. So the entire process is automatic. ... :)

We are really happy with an opensource solution gcdb, it plain rocks. We had to to some tweaking to it, but that is the nice thing about open source. It is extremely fast and holds all of our customers, it interfaces with autorize.net through batching, which is not too bad. We are working to build a module to where we can click on bill the client and it goes to authorizet.net real time.

Other than that it is a really great program.

Run it at home on a box that isn't connected to the net and you are good to go.

I have been using modernbill and think its great! Easy to use, and so far have had no problems, little bugs here and there but better than dreamcost....
