I would like to buy a control panel license for my windows 2000 server, is there any suggestion of the control panel ?

Is Helm a good choice rather than plesk 6.5 or Ensim?
I just get these 3 information, is there any others>?

I would wana to look for freeware such as Zpanel, but i can't find the online demo,is it a good software?>

I personally don't have any experience in Windows control panels, but I have heard very good things about Helm.

Here's the ZPanel demo:

I have taken a look on the Zpanel, but i find that it use apache even on windows server, if i would like to support asp.net in my server,is it a must to use iis instead of apache?>

Yes, ASP.NET support must only be through IIS.

I have not used Zpanel but it could be controlling IIS for your site but uses Apache for its own usage since it is supposed to be a cross-platform control panel.

It really depends on what you need and what you want to use the control panel for. If it is to do web hosting services then a commercial control panel would be in order since you would have a dedicated development team and proper support.

I use Ensim for Windows and it works fine and great for my needs.

If you wanna commercial software with billing features, plans manager and advanced features use HC or Helm.

If you wanna commercial software to manage your server & domains only from a web interface, use Plesk or Directadmin

If you wanna try some new released control panel for w2k test webhost-panel.com

Hope this helps

I love Helm, I don't like the "webhost management" part of it though.

I use Helm myself - been happy with it so far. The architecture is a bit confusing but once you get past that, it is great

Helm is wonderful! We have it set up in a multiple server configuration and it evenly distributes new account set ups automatically over many servers. This helps to spread out the customers over many servers rather than putting them all onto one at a time.

The only problem I have with it right now is their lack of support for the new DeepMetrix LiveStats.XSP version 7 which is all .NET and appears to solve many of the problems that LiveStats Xsp version 6 has. We had to purchase 500 more LiveStats Xsp version 6 licenses today and DeepMetrix gave our CTO a fit about it saying they didn't sell version 6 licenses anymore! We would of course like to upgrade to version 7 but Helm does not support it yet. Helm says that DeepMetrix is not cooperating with them in providing the version 7 to them so they can integrate.

Any of you that are using Helm and DeepMetrix LiveStats.XSP that can lend us a hand in putting the pressure on both to get it integrated ASAP would be much appreciated!

Best Wishes for a Net Success!

Livestats 7 isn't supported yet because WHA are waiting on a development copy and API from Deepmetrix so it can be integrated, and have been for some months now - guess it's Deepmetrix that will lose out ultimately, since their lethargy will lose them customers who would buy the new version if it is integrated but who may now be looking at other stats packages.

I Agree Helm is very easy like windows to use. But there are others like HSphere, Hosting Controller, Pleask, Ensim, etc...

Each controlpanel has its own + and - . It depends on how you want to provide your customers. Helm and Hosting Controller are better to my choice.

Sparkyrob_uk you got it right about LiveStats not making any more $ off of us if they dont cooperate with Helm. We had a very tough time getting them to sell us additional version 6 liscences this week.

If you (or any host) are also wanting this, please help us put the pressure on both Helm and DeepMetrix about it. We are putting it on them big time on a weekly basis.

Thank you!

Instead of LiveStats, get SmarterStats ... we like it and it actually works. Not to mention that SmarterStats technical support is amazing, they have litterally fixed bugs within hours after we determined the exact problem.

I agree. All my customers love SmarterStats - it has actually been the reason for some of them to switch & Bryon has helped us out numerous times over the phone. Great support!

It would be great to find a HELM host that has reseller plans with SmarterTools products likes Stats and Webmail.

Are you talking about a webhost company that resells SmarterTool licenses or just a reseller? Have you checked out http://www.helmtastic.com/store/Default.asp

I am talking about a web hosting company that offers reseller hosting with SmarterMail and SmarterStats as the options available to offer customers.

Helmtastic is great, but it doesn't list many hosts.

Thanks for the tip about SmarterStats. My CTO also recomends SmarterStats and we are evaluating it. Too bad for LiveStats if we dump them for SmarterStats since we are a fairly large host with thousands of liscences. We cannot however continue to wait much longer for them to get their act together and supply Helm with the development liscence for version 7 they need for integration.

Thank you
