View Full Version : Krispy Kreme doughnuts
Rehan 12-12-2001, 02:36 PM The first Krispy Kreme store outside the US opened up yesterday in the Toronto area and it's been incredibly busy during that time. It opened at 5:30 AM yesterday, and people began camping out at 9 PM the night before! They've set up a special parking lot, police are there directing the heavy traffic (and getting free doughnuts, no doubt! :) ), and it takes an hour of waiting in line to get anything. Crazy, huh?
Aren't the just doughnuts?! :D
Rewdog 12-12-2001, 03:02 PM :homer: mmmmm..... Doughnuts

Skeptical 12-12-2001, 03:39 PM I want donuts I want donuts I want donuts!
Yeah I'm just so naturally blessed. Just this morning I went to the local donut shop. I walked out with a coffee on my right hand, a newspaper on my left, and... 9 donuts!
Damn I LUB Rodney Dangerfield!
akashik 12-12-2001, 03:49 PM I haven't eaten a donut since the early 90's (seriously)... for some reason my sweet tooth disappeared around then never to return - most disappointing

JustinK 12-12-2001, 04:18 PM Well I was expecting them to glow in the dark or something, but no, they're just glazed over soft donuts. I like going to the local shop more. I think their donuts taste better.
RotoHost 12-12-2001, 04:50 PM Chili Dogs....Krispy Kreme's...what is this forum coming to? :)

Not sure, but I'm starting to feel hungry that's for sure. :) Better cook something - where's the phone...

Rehan 12-12-2001, 05:00 PM Hey, it's even harder drooling over food when you're fasting and haven't eaten or drank anything all day! Only one more hour to go. :D Krispy Kreme's gonna have to wait until next week, though. I'm sure the lines are still there. Maybe I'll go through their drivethru in the wee hours of the night. :)
UNIXIELHOST 12-12-2001, 06:16 PM Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are good, I like them and I eat it every sunday with my hot chocolate :D
Course, it comes with sunday paper :D
Rehan 12-12-2001, 06:21 PM Some people like 'em more than others... From this (http://www.nationalpost.com/home/story.html?f=/stories/20011212/858294.html) news story about the grand opening:"I eat about two dozen a week," admits Vince [the store manager]. "Can't you tell?" he says, pointing to his stomach. I can tell. "Usually two in the morning and four in the afternoon."

creid 12-12-2001, 07:16 PM Where in Toronto is it?

That true?
Chris
Rehan 12-12-2001, 07:50 PM It's in the northwest part of Mississauga... Near the intersection of Mavis and Brittannia.
Interesting doughnut facts from here (http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20011209/bs/food_krispykreme_dc_1.html):
With all the coffee shops, notes KremeKo, Canadians eat more doughnuts than citizens of any other country in the world.
There are 3,200 doughnut shops in the country versus 10,000 in the United States, whose population is nearly 10 times that of Canada.
Krispy Kreme expects to feel at home. It says that in less than three minutes its 200 plus stores can make enough doughnuts to make a stack the height of Toronto's 1,815-foot CN Tower.
:D
Skeptical 12-12-2001, 10:00 PM Speaking of junkfood. Today I ate too much of it and now my stomach is paying the price. Ever have that sore feeling in your tummy from over-eating desserts?
creid 12-12-2001, 10:51 PM yeah I also heard it was in the mavvis area.... Didn't know what to believe!:D
<local note>They should open one up on the 400 by the service station there...</local note>
