I can only say the same thing so many times ya know :) Stars 12-16-2001, 08:08 PM i would highly recommend you go into their forums and use a monitoring service to monitor some of their clients' sites. You will be surprised at the ping rates and server downtime/crashes that you see. Their servers seem to be rather overloaded and troublesome lately :( WebSnail.net 12-16-2001, 08:16 PM I've been on their servers now since August and had a monitoring service on one of my sites the whole time... I'd be happy to forward anyone the reports for the past few weeks, months or otherwise... They confirm that the servers have an uptime of 99.5% +... a number of weeks I've had 100% uptime. Granted that's on the Atlantis server so I can't speak for the other servers but it's the same team maintaining them. Just thought I'd best make that point clear. There have been no server crashes and i'd be happy to show you live server uptime statistics if you wish :) JeremyL 12-17-2001, 12:38 AM Originally posted by Kiwi Can you please let me know what machine you are on (if you are a current customer) or were monitoring? They say that the uptime of the server is such and such but they are completley inacurate. Since they only test the connection every 15-60 minutes, it's impossible for it to have a proper Uptime percentage. The only real way to have a percentage that's any where close to accurate is to run the check every minute or so. Samuel Mann 12-17-2001, 03:33 AM They are the absolute freaking bomb! Been with them since August, and I love em! Solid server uptime, 100 percent so says my little 3rd party reporting tool. Great support outside of the norm. Places like HR, and ***** have not a damned thing on mchost, personal attention is golden, and they are filled with it. Amazing company they have going there and I encourage you to participate in their forums and speak to us there, never seen a company with this high of service. If I owned this company, this is how I would want it ran. Good job MCHost bullsquirrel 12-17-2001, 03:56 AM MCHost is experiencing some minor growing pains lately, but their worst days are about 20 times better than any of my previous host's best days. Fantastic reliability and good support turnaround. I concur with Websnail's findings, on NewYork server any way. :) Ping rates were rather high last week, but at 100% uptime since I started monitoring (three weeks now), I will take it. I've been monitoring some of my clients' sites who chose to go with two different hosts that I have had experience with in the past (been with three hosts over the time prior to finding MCHost), and neither of them have hit 100% uptime yet in the past three weeks, using that same monitoring service. One of them has slightly better response times, but the other is just as bad, but at 98.4% uptime. :( I will endure the growing pains and continue to fully support and remain highly loyal to Marc's company, since I know I could do far worse elsewhere! :D RH Robert 12-17-2001, 01:04 PM I am hosting with MCHost also, on the Tahiti server. MCHost is by far the best company I have ever used. Support response times are fantastic and the support forum is the most active and friendliest of *ANY* hosting company I have ever seen. All others, at whatever price, pale in comparison. I also can provide uptime stats if needed... I don't know where you are from Stars, but your statements do not coincide with my experiences. And you have tried all the others have you? mbugbee 12-18-2001, 02:15 AM Originally posted by SplashHost.com And you have tried all the others have you? Sounds like someone has host envy! MCHost has blown me away. Their forum is priceless, you post your problem there and it is solved in no time. And on the rare occassion that they do have probs they let you know. MAtt Stars 12-18-2001, 04:23 AM ok my fault, i was unaware that MChost is having problems with DOS attacks... its just that the server load has been up and down like a roller coaster over the past few days, and its really been a big problem. I guess ill wait a bit longer before i judge. I guess ill wait a bit longer before i judge. Always a wise decision... Good luck with your choice :) joeicanx 12-20-2001, 02:32 AM MCHOST rocks. Plain and simple. Are they perfect? Hell no. Are they "close to perfect"? Hell yes! They are a growing company going through the normal growing pains of rapid growth. But overall they rock. Good support. Active community (suport) board. Reliable servers. Fantastic reseller plan. What more could you want. Give 'em a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm on the London server by the way. Not the best of the bunch I've discovered, but it's still better than most reseller providers can give you. Joe iCANx.com mahinder 12-23-2001, 02:48 AM Host UNLIMITED Domains i noticed they offer hosting unlimited domains in there reseller plans. How many domains one can have on the server in there reseller hosting plan? Any statics how much domains are hosted by each reseller in there plan? What is the maximum number of domains hosted by any reseller? Just wondering . . . :cartman: JustinK 12-23-2001, 03:07 AM Hmmm well being that not everyone wants to be labelled as a reseller and giving that info a way would probably be against that clients privacy I don't think that question is one that should be answered by them. Not to offend you or anything, just a privacy thing. |
