Hey folks!

I have been contacted by a company called Hostopia www.hostopia.com. I have found limited information on this board about them and would like to see if I can get some serious feedback from some of the peeps in the hosting business. No, I do not work for them.

They seem to offer an all around reseller based package, almost similar to Alabanza but without the automated billing. They're also very inexpensive as far as getting started and such. What I would like to find out from anyone is what you know know about the company such as:

- Reliability and support
- Features
- Backbone infrastructure
- Reviews that you've seen
- Resellability of the hosting packages
- Strenghts and weaknesses
- Whatever else that is pertinent

Everything looks good from the outside, I just need someone to dissect the insides for me since I don't really know what I'm looking for. Thanks for the input!

It helps to decide this first, and then go looking. If it doesn't meet your needs, then it could be the best host that isn't right for you, that you've ever seen. :)

Actually, let me rephrase what I said. I've never managed a dedicated server before, so I would like someone to compare and contrast their service offerings with one who has experience. In other words, someone who can actually compare it to some of the bigger dogs in the hosting business. I know what I'm looking for, but I'm looking for the nitty gritty on this company.

While I don't really know anything about them, looking at their site I don't see anything that would make me say they're "almost similar to Alabanza." Looks like a pretty standard reseller setup. A little more poking around and it seems that it's the reseller branch of bluegenesis.com, which I've also never heard of.

I don't see any location information on either company's site, which always makes me suspicious, but whois says they are in Toronto.

I know hostopia is a very large company, they arent a no name basement company, also all the reviews ive heard of them have been very good. But I dont know if you realize this or not but I dont believe you lease or colocate servers with them I think you just resell accounts under them.
