This offer applies to mostly the Half-Life community, though other games can be arranged.

I own a Linux server in Fremont, CA, which has 6 domains, all of which use no more than 15GB of bandwidth per month. Naturally, since the server is completely idle 99.9% of the time, I believe it would be a good idea to setup one or two dedicated game servers on it (no more than 24-30 slots in total). The server specifications are listed below:

Intel Celeron 2.4GHz
512MB DDR Ram
80GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
10Mb Connection
RedHat Linux 9 (fully patched)

Please note that I am not a company, I am just an individual trying to share the cost of a mostly unused server.

Cost per public slot: $2
Cost per private slot: $1.50

The server(s) will not be "branded", and you do not have to pay until your server is fully setup. Any Half-Life modification is acceptable, as long as there is a Linux server released for it. Bi-weekly payments instead of monthly payments can be arranged. You will receive FTP access to your game directory (so you can edit files like server.cfg and add new maps or mods), and you will also have access to an online script which will allow you to start, stop, and restart your game server whenever you want (usually after the install of new mods like MetaMod). Voice chat software may also be arranged (like Teamspeak). Each game server will receive their own IP (so they can use their game's default port, like 27015). Hosting under your domain or under a subdomain of one of my domains can also be arranged.

Test IP: 205.209.128.60

You say its in Dallas, TX. Do you have a Test IP because 205.209.128.60 is routed to XO in Fremont, CA is very bad in latency on the last 2-3 hops

game server(s) and hosting beeing run on the same dedicated box? hmmm doesnt sound like a good idea to me.

specially not on that system spec, i think they would get the odd latancy now and again, but thats IMO.

As I said, there are only 6 domains on it, which are VERY inactive. I am not planning on hosting more than one or two game servers on the box (24-30 slots max). Basically, that entire box is available for game hosting, and I can tell you for sure that the specifications are plenty for the demand.

I once ran a dedicated Half-Life server on a 233MHz system with 64MB of RAM, and it ran fine. This is a server, not a client, and, as such, I do not need a killer processor and graphic card just to run one server.

If you do not have anything relevant to add, then please, as per the forum rules, don't add anything at all.
