View Full Version : Forced to shut down
netsolutions 12-12-2001, 12:29 AM We found out today that the site we paid to have designed indeed belonged to someone else. Because of this we are forced to shut down after having our site up for only two days. The web designers name on ICQ who did our site is snyx Beware at all costs because look at what he has cost us.
We wish to make it clear that we had nothing to do with this copy of sites. We apologize to pointonweb.com and wish they forgive us.
ProSam 12-12-2001, 12:30 AM This is some sad shiznit yo.
MrLister 12-12-2001, 12:31 AM The guy that designed it "for us", who we already paid, is about to get sued big time!
One Web 12-12-2001, 12:39 AM netsolutions who did you talk to over at Point On Web? I'm sorry for you guys but I had to tell them. And you had to find out you could of gotten in more problems keeping it up for longer.
MrLister 12-12-2001, 12:52 AM Well they auctually sent a message over about 6 times. Here's their message:
Hello.
We love the design you have implemented for this web site.
Also, as pointed out in your "About Us" page, for a company or actually for those Individuals involved in the industry of Web Design/Development services, You have made quite a foolish attempt at Pirating our original/unique design of www.mousepad.com.
If you should choose to forward any comments, or wish to discuss this in a diplomatic method/format, then please feel free to do so.
I truly advise you to do so, seeming as to how Point On Web, Inc, and the firm this design belongs to will most valiantly along with both advisory legal staff/dept's. most definitely WILL be in touch.
I look forward to hearing from your executive staff.
Truly,
Steven Stone
Point On Web, Inc.
netsolutions 12-12-2001, 12:58 AM one_web, I don't mind you telling them as I think you should have. I just hope they forgive us and realize that it was not our fault.
One Web 12-12-2001, 01:00 AM WOW... people please note that the design on mousepad.com is not the one POW designed.
ProSam 12-12-2001, 01:00 AM Yeah, that old mousepad site really needed the design.
So sad to hear this guy ripped them off so blatantly.

Good he deserves it.
netsolutions 12-12-2001, 03:56 AM He has now decided that he will pay us back the money. We will wait and see if we get it.
ProSam 12-12-2001, 05:01 AM What did he say when you confronted him?
Inquiring minds need to know.:)
Fremont Servers 12-12-2001, 05:48 AM netsolutions,
Didn't you say that you were watching him when he was designing your site?

I can only assume that the current design is better than the other, in which case I cant believe they bothered defending it. It is pretty bad. It also looks like a typical template other than the background image..
As for a lawsuit, I doubt anyone on any side would actually do anything. I have brought lawsuits against others, I currently have one now. I doubt this designer even has the money to cover such, it's gonna be expensive for you to do, and you cant recover losses from someone who doesnt have it. Anyone who does have money is a lot more careful than to do what this guy did, because a lawsuit can cost them all their money. Of course, you can ruin their credit if they dont pay, but that's really not all that gratifying..
And before anyone says "find an attorney that gets paid only if you win"...this isnt a traffic accident...

Not really true guess it could depend on the state you are in
we had a defimation suit against a competitor in which we won legal damages of 3500 the person did not pay in the year he was given so he was taken back to court and ordered restitution in 200 dollar a month payments he pays this to the courts who then forwards us the payments if he misses a months payments a warrant is issued for his arrest and he can work it off in jail
this is a very time consuming matter tho but you can get the money out of this
just takes a lot of time
