View Full Version : Uptime monitoring (again!)
The Laughing Cow 12-11-2001, 04:48 PM Hi, I know of all these uptime monitors that are free but which do you find the best?
I am looking for one which simply tells you a % uptime or something alike. Any ideas? I am preferably looking for a free one. Is there any type of software like this that you can run on another server? etc?
I have searched this board before and tried most of the common monitors and i haven't found them all that great. perhaps i will need to pay for something?
insiderhosting 12-11-2001, 04:54 PM I'm not sure if you have checked out
http://phpsysinfo.sourceforge.net/ but it is really easy to install on your server, as all you need to do is upload the script, no variables to configure or anything like that, just upload. It gives you a lot of helpfull information like
Uptime
Current Users
Load Averages
Processors 1
Chip MHz
Cache Size
PCI Devices
IDE Devices
SCSI Devices
Memory Usage
Mounted Filesystems
and all this is FREE.
The Laughing Cow 12-11-2001, 05:15 PM hi, thanks for that- that programme seems really good! i had it up and running on my linux servers in minutes!
do you know of any NT scripts like that? It would be great if there is such a thing because my NT is generally the one i need to monitor since Linux is much more stable.

I believe all three of the following will work on Windows Servers
IPSentry: http://www.ipsentry.com
IPMonitor:http://www.deepmetrix.com/ipmonitor/index.html
Netsaint: http://www.netsaint.org/)

MadSkilage 12-11-2001, 10:26 PM If you're just looking for an uptime percentage, http://www.easymonitor.com will do the job. I like it and it gives you updates by email when your server status changes.
thodgson 06-02-2005, 08:55 PM http://www.webwatchbot.com - good uptime monitoring - charts, reports, stats, etc.
TimSG 06-03-2005, 01:54 PM If you want more than uptime monitoring, check out Big Brother (www.bb4.com as I recall). Works on pretty much anything out there now.

camers 06-03-2005, 08:37 PM I tried hyper spin, it was ok. We're using host-tracker just now. Seems to be great so far.
l0ck_up 06-04-2005, 04:12 AM Using websitepulse.com, and looks good. They even call me just to ask if there's anything I'd like to ask about their services.
tmx77 06-07-2005, 09:16 PM We use hyperspin and netmechanic.
