We are a small design boutique in Chicago in need of a systems engineer capable of fully configuring and deploying our web, mail, and dns servers for mass virtual hosting.

We’d like to integrate some sort of control panel for automation. We’ve been looking at Cpanel, Plesk PSA, and Ensim’s WEBppliance and ServerXchange as possible solutions.

We’re currently leaning towards Cpanel, but we’re also open to suggestions and recommendations.

We will purchase the appropriate licenses once we’ve assessed our needs.

Our preferred distro: Redhat 7.2
We’re open to suggestions and recommendations on going with a different distro or control panel.

To bid for this Project you MUST be intimately familiar with every facet of Linux related to virtual hosting and the various control panels mentioned above. Furthermore, if you have a functional hosting business or setup that we can visit, it would be a plus. We’ve gone through 2 “Linux consultants” who did absolutely nothing for us, and our boxes are still sitting idle.

Project Scope:

- Completely configure and deploy Web, Mail, DNS, and Control Panel automation software for virtual hosting
- Provide 4-8 hours of training

The Hardware:

We currently have 4 servers. Breakdown as follows.

Box 1: Webserver
Supermicro 370 DLE mainboard
PIII 1 GHZ (we will be adding a second processor shortly)
1 Gig of Ram
3- 18 gig SCSI 160 drives (currently striped at raid 5)

Box 2: Mail Server
Same as above but with 512 Megs of Ram and 2 18 gig SCSI 160 drives

Box 3: DNS Server 1
Supermicro 370 DER
PIII 733
512 Megs of Ram
9 gig SCSI 160

Box 4: DNS Server 2
Same as DNS server 1

I know the DNS boxes are overkill!

If you “think” you can help us, please DO NOT respond. WE WANT SOMEONE THAT “KNOWS” they can do it.

Please submit all bids for this project to yong@cmatrix.com .

For additional information, you can contact me @ 773.465.0900 X 104 or e-me at yong@cmatrix.com.

Thanks,

Yong Kyung

There are too many people like that....GRRRRR

Box 1: Webserver
Supermicro 370 DLE mainboard
PIII 1 GHZ (we will be adding a second processor shortly)
1 Gig of Ram

Plesk (but see below)

Box 2: Mail Server
Same as above but with 512 Megs of Ram and 2 18 gig SCSI 160 drives

As far as I know Plesk doesn't support remote mail servers...if you go with Plesk you would be better off just maing a second webhosting server with this machine. (check with plesk.com to see if they have added support for this)

Box 3: DNS Server 1
Supermicro 370 DER
PIII 733
512 Megs of Ram
9 gig SCSI 160

djbdns, djbdns, djbdns, and uhh, I would use djbdns.
stay far away from bind. ;-)

Box 4: DNS Server 2
Same as DNS server 1

I know the DNS boxes are overkill!

djbdns, djbdns, djbdns, and uhh, I would use djbdns.

(replicate with rsync over ssh, faster and more efficient then AXFR that bind uses)

You can do all of this yourself most likely.
