View Full Version : Want Support dont goto Liquid Web
Goldfinger 12-11-2001, 03:07 AM Plan: Professional
Pros:
-unlimited mysql databases
-unlimited FTP Accounts
-unlimited Subdomains
- 30 gigs of bandwidth
Cons:
- Uptime is hardly marginal, my site is down at least 3 days a month when they claim to have 99.9% uptime, but my competitor is also hosted on liquid web and he seems to always be up. So when i called and asked for them to switch the server my site was on they just ignored me which gets me to my next point.
- horrible tech support. I had countless problems that havent been delt with. (1) my stmp server does not work therefore making me have to go through the web based email to send emails, is basically a hassle. When i contacted the tech support about them it seemed to go very well i sent about 5 emails to a tech there and he'd reply and it seemed like we were going to fix it. Then i sent an email and i NEVER got a response again, it just seemed to stop. (2) i have to add a line to my .htacces "index" my directories everytime i want to create a subdomain. I used to be able to just click add subdomain and it would add one now i am forced to "index" it with .htaccess before it will work another hassle. Like with the stmp server it worked when i first got them as a host back in january of 2001 but then stopped working around June with my STMP server. I again contacted tech support and they said they didnt know how to fix this other than using the index method? (and they are suppose to be a webhost?). Yes it seems like they dont have many web techs. If they had more maybe they would be able to actually provide support. And watch out if your site goes down during the weekend. Its down till Monday.
Overall:
Looks good at first glance but if you have a problem watch out it probably wont get fixed. I do not recommend this host to anyone.
I am now with Ventures Online and they have given me nothing but EXCELLENT tech support. :)
MadCool 12-12-2001, 01:36 AM Heh I emailed Liquid Web before and got an auto response from their support saying that they're off on break from college and will have more time to do support or something along that line! I was like wtf? and didn't host with them.
Goldfinger 12-13-2001, 02:54 PM im not suprised its like they have only 1 guy to do tech support. IF they hired more people i bet they could be a great host. especially if they would have someone there 24/7. Im currently with ventures online and i LOVE it. I send in a support ticket 15 minutes later i get a response :).
pcsteve 12-13-2001, 03:16 PM Heh I emailed Liquid Web before and got an auto response from their support saying that they're off on break from college and will have more time to do support or something along that line! I was like wtf? and didn't host with them.
What! Off on a break? Arrrg!
Why do so many hosts do this. I mean, if you can't provide 24/7 support or don't have the staff the handle requests. Then why say you can? Yes, it works as a marketing tool. But, in the end your reputation will go to...well hell!
avara 12-13-2001, 04:16 PM At least ***** doesn't go "off on a break from college" every couple of months.
Precise 12-13-2001, 05:01 PM "I am at recess now; I will be able to better respond to support inquiries for the next half-hour till it is time for milk and cookies."
pcsteve 12-13-2001, 05:04 PM "I am at recess now; I will be able to better respond to support inquiries for the next half-hour till it is time for milk and cookies."
LOL... :emlaugh: So true.
But i have to say.....i do like their design though.
What's that saying again? "Don't judge a book by its cover" ;)

wow.. i gueess their still trying???
Chicken 12-21-2001, 08:45 AM As I think I posted in another thread, this seems to be nothing more than a script (I'm guessing port-sentry) reporting on the FTP server monitor (the server is checking itself to see if the FTP server is up). As for not getting the emails, that should be workable...
SignGuy007 12-21-2001, 10:00 AM But my account was closed, terminated, cancaled over a month ago....
as I requested....
Chicken 12-21-2001, 10:11 AM Ahhh, so your email address is still listed in the script config as the notification address??? so host.acrobatdesigns.com (the server) is no more? Doesn't exist?
SignGuy007 12-21-2001, 10:18 AM Not by Liquidweb or the IP address(66.92.230.13) its coming from(email header)
My domain is on a new server, at a new location, by a different hosting company with a different IP address.
-signguy
* looks like they may have shut server down... :stickout
The IP address is not working right now
StarGate 12-23-2001, 11:51 AM I had an account with them for a week. Got MySQL errors by the pound and because of the nonexistent support I left them after cancelling my account and not even demanding refund.
The account stayed up and they continued billing me. I had my cc company intervene on that
I also had to turn to their domain provider in order to "release" my domain...
After *****, one of the lowest lowlights
ThePrimeHost 12-24-2001, 02:43 PM In all fairness, it sounds like they have become too big, too fast.
I hosted with them about two years ago. They were the fasted host that I had ever been with. Then I went over my alloted bandwidth. Instead of charging me an overage fee, they simply suspended my website. Since it was just a fan site (Non business) that was fine with me. I would have rather been suspended than face a huge $200 plus fee like I did at websolo.
Per their TOS (unlimited 30 day money back guarantee), I requested a refund. They cancelled my account and issued it to me immediately. I found them to be very professional at the time.
It sounds like they need to hire some help. If they are in college, they can probably get it cheap.
