Hi guys, I wish to register a new domain but I am looking for one where I can 'hide' my personal information on thw whois lookup. Heard registerfly is good but do they offer such service? Or anyone else have better ones to recommend?

Namecheap and all enom resellers have this feature.

I think that all major registrars offer this. I know for a fact that you can do it with GoDaddy.

Yes you can change contact info with those two. Many resellers allow full control also. I'd stear clear of the people that don't allow the "owner" full control of their domain.

RegisterFly provides whois protection for .99 . You can also modify any of the domain name contacts

Hi, how do a person know whether a registra offers 'full control' for customers?

You'd need to contact the registrar. I can tell you that if the system uses DRAMS or whois.cart the domain resides in the resellers eNom account not yours.

Pardon me but I am new to all these. I do not quite understand what you mean...

Sorry about that. Let me explain with the eNom example. If you have an account directly under eNom or an account (retail or reseller) that was created under an ETP or a reseller, then you will be able to log directly into the eNom control panel with your user name and password and manage/push domains without any interference. If you are unable to login to eNom directly with your username and password then your domain(s) are sitting in someone else’s account.

I would definately not trust registerfly for this kind of service, make sure you have a lot faith in whoever you use as there is potential for abuse with another company listed as the registrant of your name.

Go with the larger services, domainsbyproxy and registerfly's protectfly have been around the longest and seem to be the biggest

GoDaddy uses Domains By Proxy for private registrations.
But it's $9.00/year plus domain registration fee.

Check out the information at http://www.domainsbyproxy.com/

UKreg are doing this, and now also NameCheap has implemented it.
