I have a number of net realted businesses and am having to use more and more mailboxes. I do not have my email addresses on my websites. I use asp form mailers. I thought, at least, that having the email address in the asp form mailer was not accessable to spammers. I usually do not subscribe to things and am careful when buying stuff online. I usually use SpamArrest for the email address I use when buying something online.

But I still get more and more spam. How are they getting my email addresses? Do they get it just by the fact that when I send and receive email that it goes over a number of computer networks? Are ISP's selling us out?

I also use domain content filtering but the spammers get smarter and smater and use words like F-ree instead of Free.

it's a known fact that some ISP's are selling the email addresses of their customers. That can be the first reason. Another way they can get your email address is from the whois for your domains.

What does harvesting email addresses mean?

Do you know what harvesting means? As in harvesting the crops. To gather, to pick etc.

If this doesn't help, I'd be glad to translate it in your own language.
