I average recieve 50-70 calls a DAY, yes that's right, most telemarketing and bill collections.
I try to signup Verizon block service, it still doesnt work not until I found this product called TeleZapper.
Purchased it and got NO single call, it works for real!
I suggest you buy if you get harrasing calls!

If anybody in the UK has this problem then have a look at your BT phone book on page 16 (or there abouts). Register yourself for the telephone preference service.
It is then illegal (under the Data protection act) for a telesales (by a company you have a service with or not) call to be placed to a person on that list.
bit of the point but hey, s**t happens.

What I do when I'm bored is I play along. I answer a couple of their questions, and they're off blabbing for 3 minutes or even longer spreading the pitch. I put the phone down, watch some tv, pick the phone back up... and sure enough they're still spewing bs.
So when they're finally done, I tell them to repeat it again... that my phone has bad reception and I couldn't make out some of what they said.
Guess what? Some of these morons actually repeat themselves! Haha... But so far every idiot has caught on when I tell them to repeat their pitch that second time. :D :D :D

lol, my uncle did this once:
Telemarketer: Hi, would you like to switch to AT&T long distance?
Uncle: I'm not sure Why i'd need it
Telemarketer: Don't you make out of state calls?
Uncle: I won't anymore
Telemarketer: Why, did your phone get cut off?
Uncle: No i'm about to kill myself. But if you can talk me out of it i'll buy your long distance.

I like to say "Wow! I love your offer, but I need to check with my parole officer before I can finish the deal, because last time I bought from a telemarketer, well...let's just say it wasn't pretty."
Scares some of them, but most of the time they just say "OK" -- they obviously don't listen to you until you start reading your mailing address. :)
