View Full Version : Not Happy With My Current Host.......What Else?
allexpert_20 12-10-2001, 11:32 PM A couple weeks ago, I found a host called your-site.com They offered:
50 MB Disk Space 25 POP3 E-Mail Accounts
6 Gigs Transfer Daily Tape back-ups
E-Mail Control Panel Frontpage 2000 Extens.
Private Logs RealAudio & RealVideo
Detailed Statistics 99.9% Guaranteed Uptime
24/7 FTP Access Money Back Guarantee
Your own cgi-bin
All for only $6 a month. But when I try to look at my site, it seems painfully slow. Too slow for my needs.
***********Please take a look at my site and tell me if it loads slower than it should be******** url: www.weaponfactory.com
Otherwise, what else would offer similar features, and is significantly faster perferably under $10 a month.
Thank you.
SoftWareRevue 12-10-2001, 11:35 PM Loaded exceptionally fast for me.
Shiekron 12-10-2001, 11:41 PM Loads fast for me. I do not like their error files:

Did they had to put that last part? I mean you payed for your service, this isn't free service you are getting.
choon 12-10-2001, 11:45 PM Hi,
Loading speed for your site seems okay for me ;)
I am from Singapore :D

bullsquirrel 12-11-2001, 12:01 AM Are you aware of the spelling errors on your site?? Definitely doesn't help the credibility of your business. ;)
Phrozen 12-11-2001, 12:01 AM Loads fine here too. I'm not sure you can find anything much faster.
Rewdog 12-11-2001, 12:03 AM Its loading fine, ping is around 70 ms

Err... I am asking this because your post/reply is right under mine.
You are referring to my site or the thread starter's site?
Thanks.

Choon

Whose site are you talking about? If it is mine, what spellling errors are there?
bullsquirrel 12-11-2001, 12:36 AM sorry, was referring to weaponfactory.com.
"catagories" should be "categories" I believe...
...and almost all of your pages are loading up "Page not found" for me.
:(
pcsteve 12-11-2001, 12:43 AM Loaded fine for me too.
103 ms ping ...not bad
So what's the problem? Maybe your internet connection was having problems? Most of the times this seems to be the cause.
;)
allexpert_20 12-11-2001, 01:10 AM Can someone tell me how to ping that website.

If you are using windows OS for your PC, go to -> Start -> Program -> MS-DOC Prompt then type in the following:
ping www.whateverdomain.com
or
ping ipaddress
For traceroute, type the following:
tracert www.whatever.com
or
tracert ipaddress
Hope this helps ;)

Choon
allexpert_20 12-11-2001, 05:26 PM I just pinged my site about 5 times in a row, and got over 300ms each time. I don't think that is good.
Phrozen 12-11-2001, 06:09 PM Are you on dialup? If so the pings will be slower.
I got an average ping of 47ms.
