I was wondering if you guys might have come accross any chatter bots which are smart enought that you could take one for a human being. Preferably an open source project. Well, if it is not open source could be fun to take a look at one as well...

I sure have, check out http://www.pandorabots.com, the bot needs some editting for certain replies, but it's very good. You can train it to be your help desk for FAQ or something, its good.
