Would you register it? -Edward- 10-31-2000, 07:19 PM register it and do what with it?. i have a 5 letter one but its .co.uk. BC 10-31-2000, 07:30 PM I did, and I have. And the site is going live November 5th :D Bogdan 10-31-2000, 07:38 PM I would :) Maybe in 5 years it will worth millions. :) Nam 10-31-2000, 08:07 PM No way, I was wrong. I thought that there were no 4-letter domains avalaible. But then 2 days ago, using a basic whois, I found out there are still a lot of them. I didn't register 4 letter with different letter, only the same letter. Here are some of mine: bbvv.com aauu.com uuuq.com but I would never reigister something like: lpzu.com or qzxr.com know what I mean? because there are a lot of them like that. If you want, I will give you a list of over 40 of 4-letter domains which I didn't want to, including some the-same-2-letter-out-of-4 domains. DynastyHost 10-31-2000, 09:12 PM Last month I was having a hard time finding a 4 letter domain name. any 4!! What happened? Did NetSol released them? kunal 10-31-2000, 09:18 PM Depends on the domain name for me. :D BC 10-31-2000, 09:18 PM Sometimes it might be NetSol releasing them; other times it's just sheer luck. I wanted a 4-letter domain name starting with the number 1, so I did various letter checks through DirectNic - and found the one I wanted within 5 goes, so I was happy :D Nam 10-31-2000, 09:21 PM No clue, I've had a hard time finding them too, but may be I didn't try hard enough. How about 3 letter? :D. I got 2 :D, but no hope of finding anymore, even 3 with number. Just took a lood at kunal's link on the other post, something like ar4.com, t8u.com are already taken :(. DynastyHost 10-31-2000, 09:36 PM Hey Nam, are you Vietnamese? JTY 10-31-2000, 11:36 PM I wouldn't register a domain unless I had a good use for it. theNonsuch 11-01-2000, 12:29 AM I'd have to agree with JTY on this one... Domain horders are quite lame. It's because of all of the hording that we're stuck with unwieldly product names and dot-com companies with really stupid names. I've only a few, which I'm using... and I registered my name as it's pretty common and a short version of it went to a porno site :-( Yikes. Neil Nam 11-01-2000, 01:01 AM Hehehe, that's called business.... guys. If I can make money in a legal (and ethical) way, I'll go for it. I'm not talking about me (just an amateur), but people who get into this business, they're smart. It's not easy, they have to be fast, patient, spending a lot of time and most importantly, they saw and knew the lucrative future of this business, which nobody could see it at that time. I had the same thought, I was going to get some names for me, but I couldn't get them, I was so angry seeing the name own by "domain for sale", it was 2 years ago. Then it gave me the copycat idea and that was how I started, I own about a hundred and so far I've only sold 2 of them, which gave me close to ten grands... but, it wasn't worth for the time I've paid. Lately, when I started to learn a bit about web design, my good domains are NOT for sale anymore, they will be used to make money like my friend, Son, at 123finder.com in the coming future. So, I don't see anything wrong with domain holders, I admire them, on the contrary (not me, though :D ). DynastyHost, you're right, I'm Vietnamese (and proud of being Vietnamese :D ), how did you know? JTY 11-01-2000, 01:16 AM Well I own several domains, most of which I don't use. But I use to when I had a use for them. Now I'm going to stick with thelostmind.com atleast until someone offers me cash for it. DynastyHost 11-01-2000, 01:38 AM Originally posted by Nam DynastyHost, you're right, I'm Vietnamese (and proud of being Vietnamese :D ), how did you know? From your name :) kunal 11-01-2000, 01:39 AM lol.. dun start me on owning domain names. I own around a 100+ domains [ that i know of ], 99% of which I never registered. I never knew I owned them, until I got calls from companies threatening to take me to court for trademark infringement and the FBI calling me for credit card fraud. Nam 11-01-2000, 01:45 AM Hahaha, LOL, kunal, what the heck? Now you change yourself to confused moderator. Yeah rite, how the heck you own over 100 without registering them? Your clients registered them for you? hahaha, it's really funny. kunal 11-01-2000, 01:50 AM lol.. I dunno who registered them... Some smarty pants who doesnt like me did it *i think*... Bleep.. he/she found an interesting way to take revenge or just play a prank on me... A real expensive way... and the domains he/she registered, were real kick ass... bleep.. i wish i could have registered them myself..hehe Nam 11-01-2000, 02:20 AM Haha, no kidding? so do you have control on them? And don't know which one you have until you get a renewal email from NetSol? LOL, that's weird but you're... lucky, the knife has two side, doesn't it? :D Btw, I forgot to add something, DynastyHost, Nam is very popular name in Korea, more than in Vietnam, so next time, you could be wrong :). DynastyHost 11-01-2000, 02:26 AM But I also checked out your domain name list. I can tell it's from a Vietnamese :) Nam 11-01-2000, 02:46 AM Oh man, did you mean my English :(. I know those domains are in wrong order, but what could I do? There are no right one. For instance, if niceguy.com is take, I had no choice to take guynice.com although the sound is ridiculous :D. Nah, seriously, I got a lot of them from unclaimeddomains. My English in this forum is bad too, I know, but I couldn't edit the post after seeing error, what's wrong? it keep asking me username and passwords. Anyway, you've made me felt bad :D, j/k. I'll see you no more, time to sleep, good nite. DynastyHost 11-01-2000, 03:32 AM haha Nawww.. I didnt' mean it that way. It's cool. Because I am too :) |
