How would I go about obtaining the IP of a remote machine?
I know, or so I think I do, some of the numbers but not all of them.
Thanks.

Do you have a hostname or domain name?

You could always ping the machine. Even though the actual packets are sometimes stopped, a lookup is still performed.
If you have Windows XP and you want your LAN IP go to: Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Click Your Connection > Click on the 'Support' Tab > Go Down Two and It Will Say Your IP Address.
If you want your Internet IP go to http://www.whatismyip.com

That only helps for a local machine though, he wants the IP of a remote machine meaning its unlikely he has that option ;)

Those are all great options but as Steve pointed out, I am not at the machine right now so I cannot do the ipconfig, otherwise I would not have posted here :)
It is a XP on my desktop a home.

I have check the logs of some of my personal web sites that I knew I had visited recently. I have also used "last" on servers I had logged in to in the last couple days.

Try netstat -a if you can perform any type of connection with it, even if its just a webpage.

Excellent idea. :gthumb: I wish I would have thought of that.
Took a look at my log files through cPanel and got the IP.
Thanks for your help guys.
