How does DNS work on a RackShack 1Ghz Intel server? Can you run your own primary and secondary name servers on the same single box you're hosting on? Does Plesk take care of this? Or do you enter your DNS info into other Nameservers which RackShack maintains? Is this automatic or does it involve asking someone there to maintain dns for you?

Plesk takes care of it. I'm not a RS customer but I do use Plesk and you can run your own nameservers. You need to create new domains for ns1.yoursite.com and ns2.yoursite.com in the same way that you'd create a domain for yoursite.com.
